Senioritis

edited September 2010 in General Discussion
I can already tell ima have a MAJOR case of senioritis this year. Im ready for the year to be over and its just begun. Im ready to get out and be my own person. Everyone keeps telling me im going to miss high school but i honestly think i wouln't. Ive never been a people person. I have a few good friends whom i absolutely love, but most of the time id rather be alone. I doubt i'll miss all the dummies at my school who blow off learning like it's not important. Im just so ready to go do what i love to do and not have to deal with people. Senior year... hurry up will ya?

 • I'm not a senior, but I feel the same way. I wanna skip it and just get to college/getting a job/moving on! Everyone tells me not to wish away my life, but I don't think I'll miss school either...I just wish it would be done with!

Thats EXACTALLY how i am and people have told me that before. They say ill miss the "easy days" but i HATE when people do things for me. Id rather have a job and a house of my own than have my parents buy everything for me.
 • Well, from someone who did actually skip Senior year, try to sit back and enjoy it. Though it may seem like you won't miss much, you will in later years.

I never was a "people" person either, didn't enjoy the big outtings Senior year is known for and was so bored with my classes, I thought "I won't miss any of it and I'd rather get on with my life" The day after graduation, I missed it and I've missed it ever since. Had I to do it over again, I wouldn't have graduated early, I would have stuck with the boring classes, went on the incredibly inane field trips and actually sluffed off and had fun with those people who were special to me.

 • I agree with Bama. I also graduated early, and was not a people person(I had BAD social anxiety disorder all through high school), but miss high school to some degree, particularly the teachers that I bonded with. Try to enjoy it, because if you start the year telling yourself it's going to suck, or it's going to take forever, then you'll just sabotage yourself. Give it your best in your last year, because the last thing anyone needs to go through is senioritis so bad they can't graduate due to grades...which almost happened to my brother.

 • I'm a senior this year, too.. but I love it. xD My classes are awesome and my teachers are amazing.. I know what is going to happen when I graduate, and as exciting as it is, I'm going to miss just being a kid and having my freedom and fun. I'm the kind of person that lives for today. I live in the now, because I feel like life is indeed too short to wish it away. Make the best of it while it's here, remember, happiness is merely a state of mind, and only you can make up your own mind about something. ;]

Well, actually, after high school comes college...
which is essentially the same thing as high school, except you have to pay.

So enjoy your free schooling while you can- I know I miss it.

Agree. I miss free schooling, i have to pay 3.5k every 10 weeks of school, and summer school is like $280 a unit. For example, my spanish class is worth 5 units, so for 1 class i had to pay over 1k :( And they still want to increase the tution! They're crazy! Public schools are almost becoming just as expensive as private schools.

 • Yeah, I'm in my first year of college, and I can honestly say you are not your own person yet. You have tons of responsibilities added onto what was already on you in high school. You might get some extra free time, but most likely that's going to get filled up anyway so you have about as much free time as you did in high school ;P

You have everything done for you as far as tuition, paying bills, etc. in high school. In college? You have to run around and do 500 things just to make sure you have your classes in order and everything paid off in time. Plus, there's the issue of loans and stuff not working out right (from personal experience, this is a huge issue and is very stressful) and you're always on the lookout for scholarships, which, equals more work xD

I will admit, I like the challenge of college better in the sense of my classes. The teachers I've had so far are all really good with their lectures, and I never get bored. Or, havent yet anyway. I do like the freedom as well, because you DO have more freedom in the sense of where you can go and what you feel like doing. You won't have teachers bugging you about attending class (I suggest you do anyway...) but they don't care if you pass or fail. Everything is on you. I personally like that, since I keep up with myself well and I dont have to listen to teachers lecturing ONE kid on being late and holding the class back >.> There is also a much higher level of maturity that I like, though I do still have one class with -very- disrespectful students and it annoys the hell out of me. Next semester I shouldn't be in freshmen-like classes anymore though, or not so much, so I will hopefully be losing all those people who aren't being serious.

Plus, I love going out to lunch wherever I want XD <33 food options!

Enjoy high school though while you have it. While I was filling out all these forms for college and having my mom worry about the bills and whatnot, I was wishing I was back in high school. If some additional freedom, there's also a lot more stress that comes with it D; (and Nickel worries about things and stresses too much as it is)
