I hate how my parents don't understand the bond I have with my little ratties.
They expect, just because I can't afford a new cage at the moment, that because they smell bad at the moment (I do clean the cage, but they chewed the linoleum on the floor and started peeing on the wood), that I am just going to be okay with them wanting me to get rid of them.

Well, I'll only do that if I HAVE to. Since my birthday is in two months, I hope they'll be understanding of the smell which I am trying hard to keep to a minimum (laying a blanket down and THEN shredded paper over top, and washing the blanket every two days and putting down fresh paper). I asked for a $150 new cage for the rats, which will not only benefit me (easier to clean), but also the rats (they'll have platforms and since it'll be hard to go from a larger cage to a smaller one, they'll have much more "out time"), and not only them, but it'll also benefit my parents (who won't have to smell the rats anymore).

They knew how excited I was to get these little furballs, why should they expect me to be easygoing about getting rid of them just because of smell?

Anyway, I really hope we can all just hang in there and stand the smell (which has gotten much better since the blanket method) until October, when they can buy me my rat cage for my birthday... instead of buying me a new cellphone or pitching in for the xbox 360 I would love to own. xD
