• Text talk is irritating for me, mostly because I'm from an older generation than most of the texters and sometimes, I honestly do not understand what is being said. It always strikes me as a bit ill advised that if you need help or are wanting something, that you use a language/dialect that is harder to understand than one that is easily understood by everyone.

There have been honest to goodness times when someone messages, needing help with something and trying to figure out their problem, as well as what they are saying to begin with, gives me a headache. "dis pyg dun do rite" "What page? What are you trying to do?" "dis dog wun cum up n iwana bi it" "I'm sorry, could you explain better?" "i wana bi a dog but wen i clik it it won let me can u fix it" etc.. Heaven help me if they actually go into an extended explanation using chatspeak, lack of punctuation, as well as typos. I usually have to holler for help from other Ops just to decipher their intention.

  • Ugh, chat speak is so annoying. The most annoying thing to me next to people chewing with their mouths open. I wonder how these people manage in school at all. I mean, considering you do a lot of writing in school - shouldn't it be harder to write with chat speak? It is for me. I have to concentrate to write in chat speak (only reason I know this is from joking around). It takes me so much longer than just writing things properly.

I get messages on here with it, and I usually just ignore them. If they can't speak properly to me, then I don't see the point in bothering with them. I can't understand it very well either, and sometimes, not at all. What really irks me is when people do things like

Th3...

seriously? You're going to replace an e with a 3? How does that make it shorter/easier to type out? How does that do anything but make it more annoying?

People confuse me sometimes xD
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.

  • Wow i had that problem in school. For my college english 3 class last year and i kept writing "Wat" instead of "What" and had to restart (we were only allowed to write in pen)
  • I hate text talk.
I don't even text talk in my texts.
And I believe that one day it's going to ruin the English language, unless there's other people like me to stop that

    Back in action?
  • Ironically, there's a study showing that chatspeak is actually stimulating the mind. I can't find the exact article but it helps solving problems since they have to put the word under the correctly spelled one and such. It just helps with building things together or whatever part of the brain that is, haha, but, sadly, I don't think most of our (people who dislike chatspeak) brains would adapt to the headaches given from said chatspeak =P
