Big Flower

I wanted to share this.
<img src="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/PrinceSushi/Plants/Hibiscus1.png"; alt="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/PrinceSushi/Plants/Hibiscus1.png"; class="bb-image" />
One of our giant hibiscus plants is blooming. This is the strongest out of the 3 plants(all different colors), and always blooms ahead of the others. I'm actually not sure if the others are going to be strong enough to bloom this year, especially since grasshoppers won't leave them alone. I'm also worried about our white and pink swirled one that grows next to the giants, and some of our other random ones scattered about. However, one of our <a href="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/PrinceSushi/Plants/Hibiscus2.png"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">stereotypical red hibiscus went on a blooming frenzy for a couple weeks, but seems to be slowing down now. I love hibiscus.

That's a 6 inch ruler by the way. The flowers average about 8 inches, but can be slightly smaller or larger on occasion. I should measure the newer blooms, since a few are a bit bigger than the one in the picture.
Please ignore my thumb. The joint bends both directions, so it sometimes looks weird when I hold things.

 • Seriously. lol.
It's the second largest flower(well, petals that is) I've ever seen in person.
This was the first.
<a href="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/PrinceSushi/Plants/Hibiscus4.png"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Multi Colored Hibiscus
It was massive in size, like a good 10 inches, or maybe a little more. Taken at the San Diego zoo.

Here is a photo of one of the other giants in the garden from last year(I think). Unfortunately it's hard to gauge it's size since it's trapped between leaves and branches.It's having a little trouble this year, but it could still bloom.
<a href="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/PrinceSushi/Plants/Hibiscus3.png"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Hibiscus
From my understanding they are considered nontoxic despite the gastrointestinal sensitivity experienced by some individuals. In fact, you can buy hibiscus tea from grocery stores, and some people eat the flowers. I almost bought some of the tea 2 days ago, but I opted out of it since I still have lots of green tea.
