Cat help...ish?

edited August 2010 in General Discussion
So my cat is always biting and attacking people and running around like a nut. She never wants to be held, rarely wants to be petted. When she does want to be petted, and you start petting her, she'll turn and bite for no reason. She jumps off the walls, up door frames, runs across couches at top speed, runs into windows, and -always- wants to fight. When you're watching tv, she jumps up and bites for no reason, then runs off and hides, and will do it again in a few minutes. Once you fight her (Which she LOVES) shes satisfied.

Im wondering if maybe shes trying to show her affection through the biting and fighting? Or does anyone elses cat behave this way? Or is mine just a nut? What do you think?

  • Is she young? My grandmother has a cat that was like that as a kitten. Took him awhile to grow out of that craziness.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • How old? I have... Gulp.... Six cats... Guess who cleans the litter box? -.-

    Back in action?
  • To me, it sounds like a younger cat who needs a playmate. She seems to have a lot of energy and they only way she has to burn it off is through play-fighting/attacking humans. Even with another cat to play with, they will both probably go on what we called as kids, "rampages" where it's just running as fast as they can around the house. Usually a quick squirt with a water gun stops that rather quickly. You might try getting her some cat balls to chase after or even just spread a couple layers of newspaper on the floor. She'll spend quite a while chasing the rustling her own movements cause.

Some cats don't like being petted except and only on their terms. It may be that even when she comes to you, she's not wanting to be petted, just to sit with you a while or claim you as hers by marking you with the oils on her chin and hind end.

  • Shes about 3 and a half years. Getting another cat is a no go. My dad barely lets me keep her. We give her all kinds of toys, but she rarely has intrest in them, unless you're throwing them to her or in the room watching her, or you rub half a ton of catnip on them.

Either way I still love my nutty kitty (:
