• If you want, I can give advice and critique. I'd need examples.

 • Alright, I'll give my most recent ones.
My banner right now is an example.
<img src="http://i37.tinypic.com/2n07ho8.jpg"; alt="http://i37.tinypic.com/2n07ho8.jpg"; class="bb-image" /> - That's one.
And one of my older ones: <a href="http://i37.tinypic.com/1zqa9ub.png"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i37.tinypic.com/1zqa9ub.png; (This one's transparent but you can't tell when you click the link.)

 • The Shiba Inu one is quite nice in my opinion. I like the overall arrangement of it, and the little cloud details.
Here are some things I think might improve your banners, but keep in mind this is to my standards and what I like, so it might not please everyone.

1. Get rid of the sharp drop shadows on the text or soften it. It's way to harsh.
<a href="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/PrinceSushi/My Graphics/Kit_KatTigers.png" target="_blank" class="bb-url">Here is an example of one of my banners with a soft drop shadow under text.
Notice how the soft drop shadow helps the text stand out more, but doesn't over power it like a sharp drop shadow.
* An alternative to drop shadows is outlining. If a drop shadow just isn't giving you a good effect, or it's not making the text stand out like you want, then try outlining the text in a contrasting color.

2. Your main focus should be sharp or eye catching. One of the problems I noticed with the Shiba Inu banner is that the dog(main subject) is soft and the colors are kind of desaturated. Try using the sharpening tool just a little, and play around with tool to make the dog's colors pop.

3. Try borders. This is more a personal taste, but I love borders.

4. When doing just text, don't make it all over the place. Your older banner is a bit hard to take in because there are little decorations all over the place. The decorations that are touching the text are well placed, but the 6 random ones just floating around are distracting.

Hope that helps. Just keep playing around with things, and practicing.
