Rescues..

edited August 2010 in Vent
On VP. I lost the password to a kennel I had; I couldn't retrieve it through my email because it was made before they actually sent activation emails. Someone rescued my first 9x4 King Shepherd in the game that was like ONE dog in the game that I would have wanted to keep, and I messaged them asking if I could have it back or buy it from them, and they won't answer me.

It's just weird to me how rescues can take other people's stuff. I know there are people that think it's a great idea which is why it was inputted into the game, but a lot of people who have had their dogs that they put a LOT of time into rescued from them when they've lost the passwords, or had no time to get on, or had trouble in their lives where they couldn't log in for a while. It's really frustrating. I know a few people who had kennels and kennels of gifties and "rescue" people think they can just slurp them up and keep/sell them and make a buck off them.

I spent at least $50 mil on my King Shepherd line. It p's me off that someone has my highest quality ones and won't give it back to me. It feels like a part of me, my time and energy and the value of it because of what I've sacrificed, was stolen. The input of the rescues was a bad idea in my opinion, because they're not actually "suffering" nor do they "feel". But PEOPLE feel and that's what gets me.

  • Why didn't you put in a support ticket to get the login information?

  • In my opinion its what rescues do, they see a kennel that hasn't been logged into for sometime and they rescue those dogs, gifties or even million dollar dogs. Once they rescue them the dogs are considered there's since they rescued it and its now in their kennel. Some rescue let the person message me back within 2 days (which I think is far) if they don't then the dog is theirs. It doesn't take much to log into a kennel for 2 seconds so the dogs don't get rescued or to put a ticket into support if that doesnt work then contact an OP.. But to me its just how the game works *shrugs* just my opinion.

  • But also if I was them I'd give it back seeing that you spent so much money on the dog(s) :]

  • I see where you're coming from, but I doubt the rescue kennel knew they were doing anything wrong. It's what rescues do, and usually when a kennel in inactive for so long, it means the person has quit/no longer plays on that kennel. Still, you'd think they could listen to you and allow you to buy your dog back. I'd understand if you told me how you lost the password.

I've done it before but they never EVER have answered so I gave up on that route.

"I doubt they were doing anything wrong.." Exactly. It's not "wrong" because it's why rescues were put into the game.

  • Same thing happened to me a while ago, I went on vacation to Hawaii (Way long ago.) And this was back when I bred Poodles, Bread Crumb Terriers, And KoRn Dogs along with someone else.
I come back and all that's left is like one poodle...

I understand the whole being ticked off because your hard work was taken from you. but kennel have to be in-active for 6months and i bet if you would have messages bama or voodoo and explained everything they could have gotten your password or done something.

But it sucks now because who ever rescued the dogs can do what ever they please with it. :/
i would hate it if it happened to me.

You've not used the new support link in game or the new password retrieval then. We've had several people who lost login info and we were able to get to them within about a day, even if the e-mail wasn't correct. If the e-mails correct and working, you can get login information within minutes of one of us seeing the ticket.

  • I lost everything just like you, so I understand what you are feeling. However, I really like rescue kennels, and the idea of rescue kennels, but find it unfortunate that you have to deal with one of the ones that doesn't respond to messages, because I had to go through that as well. I don't know what you've already told the rescue kennel, but if the dogs are that important to you, you should try making a deal to buy them back. If that kennel has been watching your kennel for 6 months in hopes of getting your dogs, then imagine how they feel just giving the dogs back free of charge(regardless of whether or not you feel they outright belong to you). I don't need the VPC, so I don't mind making deals or giving a few important dogs back, but I can see why it might seem like a big waste of time to a player that has to work harder to make VPC.

I agree, because I was one of them.
On Orbis Worlds I had been waiting 6 months to get login information for my old account from 4 years ago, but once the new system was set up I sent a new ticket through the new system, which was then answered in about 10-20 minutes and completely solved/closed in a day.

I also agree. You shouldn't have given up on getting support. Whenever I felt it was taking too long, I would send a message to Alabama, and I think she may have even sent me a message one time. Constantly communicating with her is ultimately what lead to getting my login information back.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • I know how you feel reina. Someone rescued half my CWD lines. . . They were da bomb too.
I think they should at least answer you though if you sent them a pm. Thats just rude to totally ignore, especially since you're willing to pay for it
to get it back. I'm sorry love <3
  • Maybe the reason they didn't answer was because they no longer play or don't get on often? Look on their kennel page-when was the last time they were on? Maybe you could try sending another message.

I wasn't nessacarily saying that they did or did not do soemthing wrong, just that it's sorta their job as a "rescuer." I know the dogs on here don't have feelings, but rescue kennels are part of what makes VP, well, VP! The game would be no fun if no one treated these virtual dogs like real dogs, at least in some ways. Just as some people like breeding, training or showing, some like rescuing. Not having rescue kennels would be like getting rid of training kennels because "these aren't real dogs, they don't have feelings and they don't really need training." I dunno if I'm making sense here...I'm just saying that as annoying as they may be sometimes, rescue kennels are a nice, important part of our game.

And I have to agree with Celia and Princesushi...... if you already had another Virtual Pups and forums account, why couldn't you have messaged an op?

  • Ummm...

I COULD have but just didn't think about it until it was too late. I thought I had them in another kennel but, my mistake, and now someone else has them who doesn't deserve to.

They may not ''deserve'' them but they are just doing their job as the rescue on VP, these things happen alot of the time with people.
