bees.

should just go die. i swear, bees should not be alive. i know they're essential for humans to live, but i wish they weren't so that i could call an exterminator just to kill them all. they're gross and disgusting, and scary to top that. they're annoying little pests that i just absolutely HATE. I HATE THEM. sorry to all the bee enthusiasts out there [i don't know if there are even any people that like them -_-] but i just hate them. i hate them, and i'm afraid of them, too.

to top that off, there's a huge swarm of bees invading my house now. [= isn't that just lovely? and apparently they're getting into my attic, too. that's just so... terrifying for me. no one else in my family or friends is this afraid of bees. when i see one, and they come near me, i start to cry. i've never even been stung by them, yet they're absolutely HORRIBLE. i hate bees. seriously, my view on them is they should all go die. i know that's wrong and all, but you don't have my phobia of them. they're little... UGHH. just hate them, they're gross and yeah. whenever i see even a PICTURE of them, i start to scream. if there's a bee picture on my TV, i immediately change the channel.

i seriously think i need to like go to a therapist or something for this phobia. it's like clinical. -_- [the phobia also includes all kinds of bugs + spiders. one time a ladybug landed on me and i threw a fit, screaming and such. horrible.]

yeah, just needed to get that out. my mom tricked me into going to see the swarm of bees around my roof, and yeah, you guessed the outcome. i screamed bloody murder and shrieked, hightailing it into my house while crying. i don't think you've seen anyone run this fast. i could beat an olympic sprinter 10 times over if a bee was coming after me. >_<

[/end of vent.]

by the way... it seems like my house has become bee country or something. i don't think i'll even manage to step outside now. |:
cookies and creme ice cream to all who read.

  • Wow.. Ive been stung by wasps 5 times.. and have a scar on my left arm from a bee stinging me at school when i was in elementary =(
  • I was attacked by 4 bees once and almost died o.o Not to sound dramatic XD lmao That was when I was 3 tho
  • D:
I'm not taking it personally, but I still feel like I could cry due to your hate of bees. I am a strong supporter of saving bees, and was devastated to hear that they were declining in numbers quite radically in 2009. Even in 2010 they are still struggling, and still dying out. You live in Southern California, right? Our orange orchards depend on bees. If bees suddenly died, and our orchards became useless, our state could be severely financially impacted. Not to mention, that humans aren't the only ones that depend on bees. Many plant and animal species could also be severely impacted if bees were wiped out.

I'd link you to the Xerces Society page on pollinator conservation, but the site is kind of covered in insect photos, so I'll just quote the main intro.
Pollinators are essential to our environment. The ecological service they provide is necessary for the reproduction of nearly 70 percent of the world’s flowering plants, including more than two-thirds of the world’s crop species. The United States alone grows more than one hundred crops that either need or benefit from pollinators, and the economic value of these native pollinators is estimated at $3 billion per year in the U.S. Beyond agriculture, pollinators are keystone species in most terrestrial ecosystems. Fruits and seeds derived from insect pollination are a major part of the diet of approximately 25 percent of all birds, and of mammals ranging from red-backed voles to grizzly bears. In many places, the essential service of pollination is at risk from habitat loss, pesticide use, and introduced diseases.

Right after reptiles, invertebrates, particularly insects, are my second love. I plan to work in conservation efforts to help save some species, and California actually has quite a few, such as the Delhi Sands Flower-loving Fly, which is the ONLY fly to be listed under the endangered species act. In fact, the Xerces Blue Butterfly, which was found in Northern California, and for which the Xerces Society is named after, is believed to have been the first butterfly to become extinct due to humans

Rather than call an exterminator, you should try to get a hold of someone who removes and relocates bees if possible. A bee keeper might even remove them if it means they don't have to die.You might also want to talk to a therapist due to how severe your fear of insects is. Whenever a phobia impacts your life like that, it means it's not at a healthy stage. Insects far out number humans, and have been on Earth much longer, so we have to learn to live with them, but you don't have to love them like I do. Honestly, humans could die out, and life would go on, but the death of all insects could lead to massive amounts of extinctions in plants and animals.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • Wow, and I thought I didn't like bees. Um, I'm afraid of wasps and such, but honeybees and bumblebees don't really bother me. I've only been stung once, and that was because I wacked at it not knowing it was a bee. My friend has pet a bumblebee before, and it didn't sting her or even get mad. Okay, I don't know where I'm going with this, but I'm really sorry you're that afraid of bees. I'd hate to have a phobia that bad, especially of something that I saw everyday, all around my house and yard. Anyways, most bees won't bother you if you don't bother them, but I doubt that makes you feel any better. I do hope your fear gets better soon though!
i know that and i'm sorry to make you feel bad about my hate for them, but my fear is irrational, it's just something i was born with. |: that's why i kind of feel bad for hating them so much, but i can't do anything about it. my fear is just too great to live in harmony with them. ><
yes, i know bees are very important to us, but to me, my fear is so irrational that i can't listen to reason and logic anymore when it comes to bees. ><
and my mom called an exterminator, and they're all dead. }: well, we don't know that for sure, but that's what the guy said. plus the bees were a bit of a danger to my dogs, especially my small one. and there's construction workers at our house right now, so we don't want them to get stung while working on the house either; we needed the bees gone fast. i don't like killing them if i don't have to, but this was necessary [imo]. and my mom thinks they're gross, [not afraid of them, she just doesn't like the way they like.. swarmed and stuff around our house] so she wanted to call the exterminator. }:

@ lovefrompaige + garnet; wow, i'd be even more terrified. probably won't be able to go near a bee anymore if that happened to me. =_=
@ iluvdogs11; yeah, everyone tells me not to bother them, and they won't touch me, but seriously, with my phobia, i don't want to even see them. i guess i should talk to a therapist, but really, its not a problem unless there's a huge bee swarm like right now. my house is kept free of flowers and such because of my phobia, so we never really have bees, only the occasional ones. so usually i don't really go near the places that i know have bees around my house, and that's why i can live with this. }:
thanks though. (:

  • I like bees, but here they aren't an issue. There isn't enough that they're pests, and none of them come after you without being provoked. Although that's due to the fact that they die after they sting. Which is why what I hate.. is wasps. Those are nasty bugs, and now that it's August they'll be everywhere in about a week or two.

But omg. While we're talking about bugs.. we've had a very wet year where I live in Alberta, which has brought out SO many mosquitos. I swear, I'm going to lose so much blood lmao It's insane, especially out at the stable where we have sloughs out in the pasture because of the amounts of rain we've had. :|

  • Eek! D: I don't mind bees as much as I mind hornets. Outside our apartment building there have been hornets swarming around all the little bushes by the sidewalks that all the dogs like to get into. It scares me to death because we have a small dog, and if one stung him, it would probably kill him. >.<
