Training is a very important, if not the most important, aspect to having good dogs on Virtual Pups. Training affects both breeding and eventing on the game, as well as how much you can get when selling or studding your dogs, so you should train your dogs as well as you can.

There are two different places your dog will get better in as you train: Skills and Stats

Skills
Skills are the things your dog will event best in. They are located to the right of the yellow stat box.
<img src="

Your dog can achieve only so many skill points (around 280) in its lifetime, so choose where you want to specialize your dog carefully.

Discipline Skill are important for all events, especially if you want to show your dog, in anything. When your dog gets trained in more disciplines, then more training options become available. For information on what training options come up, see the training section.
Show Skill If you want your dog to excel in events such as Conformation or Showmanship, this is an important skill.
Sport Skill If you want your dog to excel in events such as Canine Disc, Flyball, Racing, Agility or Hunting, this is an important skill.
Working Skill If you want your dog to excel in events such as Weight Pulling, Tracking, Mushing, Schutzhund, herding or Hunting, this is an important skill.

The <a href="

It's best if you concentrate on getting two skills to 100 in each and a third to 80, rather than trying to split the points up between all four.

Stats
The other thing you train a dog in is it's stats. The stats are what is listed in the yellow box.
<img src="

Training affects the two numbers. As you train, those numbers will rise. For eventing, the actual stats need to be as high as you can get them in the important areas for the event, over 200, most likely. For breeding, the better the potential (the number in parenthesis) a dog has in comparison to the actual stat, the better the pups' natural stats will be. The more you train the dog, the better its potential becomes.

Anyone can train stats, however, sponsor trainers can get the stats higher. A novice account is limited to getting stats up to 100, while a sponsor can get them to 200.

**Tip** Fully training a dog is often referred to as 280/200, that means 280 skill points and all stats to 200.

Condition, Energy, Mood and Grooming
Each time you train in something, it has a chance to affect a dog's condition, energy, mood and grooming.
<img src="

You want to be careful when training that you don't exhaust the dog, as then it will take a few turns to get its energy back up.

Our players have created quite a few guides about how to train and what to train in in the <a href="
