Experience, Temperment, And Assumptions

WELL! :roll: Today was a BAD day.<br><br><br><br>Today was the monthly training for the new volunteers at the humane society I work at.<br>They do their training and are then allowed to walk dogs, socialize cats, groom, etc. etc. <br>We (the workers) MATCH the people who want to walk dogs with a dog they can handle. <br>Everyone was gone except for like 4 people so they wanted to walk some dogs.<br>We assigned one man (about 25 years old) to Cenci, a rottie mix.<br>We then assigned a younger kid (about 16) to Ellen, a corgi mix. <br>I went off to clean and whatnot while they walked. <br>BOTH Cenci and Ellen have dog aggression. NO ONE told the 2 guys to keep them seperated. <br>I walk outside turn the corner and I see Ellen get off the leash!<br>"GRAB ELLEN!" "MOVE CENCI!" I yell as quickly as I can. <br>Ellen ran at Cenci and Cenci lunged. <br>There is now a full on dog fight happening.<br>I run out there as fast as I can and the older guy is FROZEN. He has NO CLUE what to do.<br>He tried to grab Cenci and got bit twice. <br>He fell, tripping me which rolled my bad ankle.<br>I managed to get up and I now have Cenci under control.<br>Now don't get me wrong...Cenci is a BIG dog and I'm only 5'2'' and pretty small. <br>I have enough experience with these individual dogs to control them.<br>The guy had bad puncture wounds on his arm from trying to grab Cenci, and was sent to urgent care.<br><br>I wish that people would ask questions.<br>I wish that whoever assigned Ellen and Cenci would have told them about their temperment. <br>And I wish people would quit assuming that all rotties and pits are bad dogs.<br>Cenci <img src="http://sms.petpoint.com/sms/photos/1410/aba1f8f2-a5fe-4c5c-b9b9-a27b89452cb7.jpg"; alt="http://sms.petpoint.com/sms/photos/1410/aba1f8f2-a5fe-4c5c-b9b9-a27b89452cb7.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br><br>Ellen <img src="http://sms.petpoint.com/sms/photos/1410/f8f368f6-e294-4051-8a27-4396931a21be.jpg"; alt="http://sms.petpoint.com/sms/photos/1410/f8f368f6-e294-4051-8a27-4396931a21be.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br><br><br>
<br><br><br><br>Gina is an incredibly smart, loving, amazing dog that everyone thinks is mean.<br>She does this weird growl, whine thing when she wants your attention.<br>Everyone thinks she is snarling at them.<br>She is great with kids, is trained, and is just one heck of a loving dog.<br><br>Gina <img src="http://sms.petpoint.com/sms/photos/1410/c149072a-636a-4693-b7a3-06486bdad40e.jpg"; alt="http://sms.petpoint.com/sms/photos/1410/c149072a-636a-4693-b7a3-06486bdad40e.jpg"; class="bb-image" /><br>I'm sick of people asking me why she growls and snarls at everyone when she ISN'T! That's just her way of letting you know she wants attention!<br><br><br>
<br><br><br><br>So i did get some action!<br><br><br>Then after that long day of getting everything fixed up and whatnot.     Holy crap!! My great Uncle and Great Aunt run a Pitbull rescue out where they live. They have about over 200 pitbulls. A lot of them were fighting dogs, and now they're totally sweet<3

    <br><br>Jippi is such a sweetheart.<br>Ya, I'm scatched up pretty bad. I have scratches on my arms and my neck where Cenci had jumped up on me. But I'm alright, and so is the guy who got bit.<br><br>

    <br><br>:D Yeah well glad you all are okay. :) And yeah they're very sweet. They have one female who even still loves other dogs. She just doesn't like cats......very well......or at all lol
