Cats and Leashes

edited July 2010 in Vent
Has anyone else ever tried to leash up a cat you thought was lost, only to
have it run away and realize that it was actually your neighbor's cat and find that the leash you put on it is no longer on it and has mysteriously disappered?

Or is it just me...

:x

Grr... • lol we used to have a cat that we walked. He loved being put on a leash and being walked around the neighborhood. :) the elderly people loved him........until some jerk poisened him with anti-freeze............

 • We used to walk our three Siamese cats around the block when I was younger. Had to be careful though to not let them pull on the leash or they'd weasle out of the harness.

lmao we have a siamese cat. We're actually looking to get a couple of un related siamese and breed them :) My sister in law shows them for a living so the kittens would be for show purposes.

 • We put a harness on our torti sometimes. She's too skittish outside on a leash and she wiggles out of it. We didn't try to do this until she was older so it just wasn't working xD

Oh yeah, that's how it was with our Siamese. We didn't walk them so much as they walked us because if they felt any tension on the harness, they'd back around and wiggle out, so it was always a game to try and get them to go the way we wanted since we couldn't "force" them to LOL

 • I can barely get my cats to keep their collars on...if I put a leash on them, they would either freak out, or I would be the one technically being walked, since there is no controlling them.

Also, except for my tiny female, my cats are scared of most things.

Cats attract cats, so I'm always having to deal with strays. When cats show up at my house I mostly shoo them away, or keep an eye on them for a few months to try to figure out if they are a stray or someone's outdoor cat. However, I take most tom cats to the pound if I can catch them.

You might want to get momma cat spayed. Even if she goes out and gets pregnant again, they can generally terminate the pregnancy when she is spayed. It's not that expensive either(compared to dogs at least). I used to volunteer at the local shelter's cattery. Unaltered cats are a huge problem. I saw way to many kittens euthanized, because the shelters can't keep up.
