I go on this Corso forum a little, and always talk about my dog.

Story goes, she's officially my dog and has been since I was about 10 or 11, when I was "given the leash" in feeding, cleaning up after her, walking, training, everything except buying her food because I didn't have a job then and never could get one because I always had to stay home with my little brother. Now that he's older, I'm in college full time and still don't have one.

Anywho, there's this person .. I'll name her "Bob" because she has a boy name.

I made a thread on the forum asking about the food Orijen, when previously Keilah was eating Kirland Signature from Costco. Now she is eating Orijen and doing very well thank you very much, "BOB"!

This is what I said to someone..

Well, tomorrow we are heading into the city to buy my dog a bag of Orijen. I've been wanting to switch her over for a while. Honestly though, next dog I will never feed kibble again in my life. Right now it's kind of out of my control as I'm in college and my parents are paying for her food, but thank God they've decided to get her on a better food! We'll see how she does on it.

And this is what Miss Bob had to reply.

Okay, again I don't understand.
Why would you be paying for dog food for a dog that your parents got when you were 8? Who lives in your parents home, with your parents and you.
Not to be a [female dog], but I find your posts some what misleading Reina.
She is not really "your" dog, but your family pet.
You need to differentiate, having a dog that is "not really" your responsibility and owning a dog in it's entirety, being the sole person responsible for that animal and it's behaviors, are very different things.

LMAO. I even told this to my Dad, Mom, and brother and they all said she's my dog. So basically, this complete stranger who has absolutely no idea my situation and doesn't even know me or my family is telling me off and telling me that my dog is actually not my dog.

No one else does anything with her except me. When I'm away and come home, she's sitting screaming by the door basically to go out and pee because "it's your responsibility to let her out, not mine!!!" (That's a whole other story, which I've changed somewhat by yelling at my family to let her out when she asks!) So like.. back to the point.

I reply to her.. why do you even care? Yes, she is MY dog. Don't make assumptions about something you don't even know the half of. (I said something along those lines.)

And she replies with, "You are right, I don't care. What I do care about is the CC breed. I care about people taking the advice of someone who has never had the responsibility, aside perhaps from walking, feeding and of course loving a dog."

And then she goes on to tell me how she's better than me and that my opinions are useless compared to hers because she's own "Schz GSDs all her life" and crap. I think, if someone thinks my advice is faulty, they shouldn't go by it. For what other reason would people ask others' advices on....? By the way, I was critiquing a CH Italian Corso a guy just imported, an experienced breeder. I critiqued its confo. A few people commented that they really liked him and others hated him. So it's all a matter of personal preference anyway. You should read a show vs work Border Collie debate. It is disgusting how rude people get over their passion for dogs.

OH MY GOSH.

I'm thinking... what the eff does my ownership of MY dog have to do with the Cane Corso..?

And then she said.. "I'm not trying to be a [female dog], but the quieter one is, the more they learn."

Oh Bob. If you knew me, you'd know I'm not a loudmouthed know it all you freaking assuming loser. She said that after I posted hmmm maybe 4 times.

Gah. The whole thing pee's me off when I think about it.

Why do people go out of their way to be frustrated by people who aren't their problem? It's so weird. Anyway, I replied to Bob's message with a kindly, "Actually, I needed that.. someone telling me to shut up and learn before making uneducated critiques. I'm keyboard happy obviously.. can't shut up my mouth or my fingers lately. " When I wanted to scream a list of swears. :x

Srsly though. SOME people.

 • haha wow, i can't believe that this "BOB" person said that to you.

Like me, I'm also in college and my parents take care of my, yes MY, dog for me. When I call my parents just talk to them, my mom always tells me, come over and clean the mess your dog did. And I reply to her, send me money to buy a train ticket and I'll be there in 5 hours to clean it up. I would have my dog with me, but the apartment complex I live doesn't allow dogs. My parents told me so many times, that's he's my dog and my responsibility. And I do take care of him when I'm over there, but my mom offered to take care of him when I'm away.

I don't know, I just think that Bob person needs to learn to think before speaking.

 • What in the world?!
She's your dog, because you take on the most responsibility, and your family members obviously agree. What does it even matter if you were to say my dog vs. my family's dog? Seriously, what is this person trying to imply? I just don't get the motivation behind Bob's comment, other than fishing for a way to discredit/belittle you due to her serious superiority complex.

Basically everyone I know says "my dog(s)" in regards to pets, regardless of who pays for it and where it lives. I'm in the exact same situation as you, and I have no qualms about saying MY dogs.

 • If there is one thing that is universally true, it is that many people love to have an opinion so that they can make noise and receive attention. It's very simplistic, but in all honesty I've been able to relate all human behavior to dog and other animal behavior principles. She's threatened by you and is trying to assert dominance. Ignore her - she'll figure it out, but the more you give her the more she has.

 • Lol I agree with everyone's comments. It's sad but frustrating when people try to belittle you.. now whenever I post I always think twice about posting because "I don't know anything about the breed aside from what I've seen in pictures." She said that as well. Which is noooooooot true. :o :x

 • First hand experience is valuable, but in no way does having it mean you know more than another person. It's all about doing your research and understanding it.
