Fading in GIMP. D: [Help!]

I've seen people around the Forum who can combine & fade images together beautifully, and I am trying to learn how, but I just can't find the exact tool. I can crop everything off the image, but that makes it look funky because some of it wouldn't come off. I have GIMP 2.6.8, if that changes anything. xD<br>Thank you to anyone that can help me. ^^

    I have no idea about GIMP, but in photoshop I use the eraser tool, and a combo of filters. Try looking for some tutorials on DA.

    No problem.<br>I realize I didn't really elaborate though.<br>I turn the opacity/strength/whatever-it's-called really low on the eraser tool and then just over layer swipes. If the strength is too high, or you make too many swipes in the same spot, you can begin to see the eraser lines. Takes some practice and experimenting every time you try it.
