...You're supposed to be learning how to drive!

edited June 2010 in Vent
I'm online, and like half the girls I'm in school with, and half of the boys, are on the mobile web. This one girl made an 88 on her drivers exam, and was complaining about it, but she's on the internet when she's supposed to be learning traffic rules, and what lines mean what, and the speed limit, and how to start up a damned car! I think that they really want to be a safety hazard to their lives and others. Just because you're a new driver doesn't mean you have to be a bad driver! -slams head into wall- I don't want -my- life, nor my family's life, endangered just because -you- decided to be a moron. You're not the only person on the road, you know! You have to share it!

>.<

It's incredible.

  • Agree'd.
Heck Ive had 2 family members die due to bad drivers :[
But only one was due to a younger driver.
The other death was caused by a person driving with a suspended licenses already and hit my dad into his truck when he was getting a drink.
[ My dad worked for PenDOT witch is a road working place in PA]

Please people learn how to drive right .

  • Mommy tells me that I can only occupy one lane... I just choose to take my lane out of the middle of the highway.

In reality reading the drivers manual and such, and learning to drive have nothing to do with eachother. The manual says what signs mean and such but do nothing for making you into a better driver in my opinion.
I made a 100 on the drivers test and wrecked the car into a pole because i couldn't see a 20 foot high pole >.>

  • Some people are too immature to be driving. Im so cautious when I drive its not funny. I hate going fast. I hate people anyway.

  • I don't get it, are you complaining because she's on the internet instead of practicing, or because she's on the internet while driving? If it's the former, then all I have to say is that people can't practice all the time. Gas is expensive, and sometimes families share cars.

In California there are very strict laws about driving with hand held devices due to so many fatal accidents caused by teens texting or talking on the phone. You now have to have a hands free device such as blue tooth, but I think they are even trying to get rid of that; in other words, no talking on a cell phone at all while driving.

I've been trying to get my license for a year and a half. It's not that I'm a bad driver, just that I have no one to practice with so I never felt equip to take the test, and then my permit ran out. I'm supposed to be studying to take the written exam again, and then I have to go stay with my grandmother until I actually get my drivers license. I don't know how I'll ever do it though. Driving is likely to give me a heart attack. I just wish more places utilized public transportation like trains and subways.

  • I'm mad while she's supposed to be learning.
Buffy: Good job! That would be me, right there, with my -3.75/-4.75 eyes.
Tiffer: I remember you talking about that ):
Syve: I...don't know how to drive yet. Hahahaha.

Go/golf carts are okay, I think it's the actual cars/trucks that you have to have a permit or license to drive. I'm not sure, though.

I think that as long as you're on private property it doesn't matter.

I agree. Maybe not, though...I think they can arrest your parents for letting you drive..

It mostly depends on your state. Out here it's legal, and in fact lots of people do it do practice prior to even receiving their permit. As long as it's legal in your state to drive on private property, your parents are unlikely to even be warned unless something happens or someone complains because the child isn't being supervised. Without supervision is may be considered reckless endangerment. Even if something did happen, it's unlikely your parents would be arrested unless you live in a state where it's not legal at all.

  • I know it's completely legal in Texas, private property is private property.. So most of the time they don't care what you do on it..

  • My dads always in the truck with me and we go like 10 mph. Its mostly just for me to get used to the feel of the truck so when I get my permit I wont be scared to death of it lol
I retract that very last sentence. Now that I re-read it, it sounds stupid. If bodily harm occurred I imagine your parents could be held responsible for reckless endangerment with injury to a child, and possibly reckless endangerment with a vehicle. Anything involving injury can be very serious, but if it was an honest accident then a judge would probably be a bit easier on someone, and award probation and/or a fine, especially if incarceration meant splitting up a family.

Sorry, I'm having some bad insomnia; almost 2 full days awake, so my brain isn't functioning to well right now.

Anyways, my best advice is to contact your local DMV or law enforcement office to figure out what is legal in your area.
