• No AC for me since it's so expensive. D:
There have been a few really hot days already, and I felt like I was going to die. I kept having to wet a towel for my head/neck, and then sit in front of a fan and window. It wasn't even as hot as it gets during summer where I live...I'm moving to Antarctica. I'll build myself a nice igloo and you can come live with me when it gets too hot. lol.

Last summer, ours wouldn't work at all. Our house was a pleasant 90 degrees all summer.

 • Eh, I guess I sound whiny. but, my mom keeps our house icy during the summer because she's a really hot natured person. And when she's hot, everyone else is miserable because her temper skyrockets. Plus, I have to share a bed with someone, so that makes it even hotter. Neither of us slept at all last night and both of us are working long shifts at work today, so that should be fun. >.<

My room's above the garage x: Do you remember how hot it gets, even with the AC working? I've got my fan on high, the air is working, and it's still about 75 in my room...I'd rather it be 65.

 • 67 degrees? Wow! I'd be freezing. We keep ours at 76.

If the coils have froze, need to shut it off at the thermostat and let it thaw a few hours, then it might work again. Also check to be sure it hasn't thrown a breaker trying to work while froze.

Just a random thing here. Generally home air conditioners are meant to keep the inside temperature no more than about 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. So, if the A/C is trying to keep it cooler than that, it's working harder than it was meant to work, especially if the house isn't well insulated. That means the likelihood of the coils freezing or it not working is greater and it'll wear out faster.

Case in point.. Our next door neighbor lives in an older house that's not well insulated. Their air conditioner is about 2 years old. It runs almost constantly from about April until October because they also keep the temp set at about 68. Sounds like a small truck running outside my bedroom window 24 hours a day. The coils freeze on them about once a month and each month, it gets louder, as in we can hear their air conditioner better than our own, even if we're sitting just inside where ours is at. They'll be lucky if they don't have to replace theirs before Summer is over.

 • Wow.. My bedroom stays at 64 degrees all the time.. The rest of our house stays about 74.. And outside it stays about 95-110 degrees everyday 0.0
 • My sister in law just informed me that it's about 99 degrees outside right now. That's supposed to be the high for today and the thermometer outside by our front door says 98.. D=
Lol, yea, we're used to wearing hoodies and socks inside during the summer. xD We live in an almost brand new apartment complex, so we have maintenance men that come fix everything. It was just a clog from the filter being dirty and it not being able to blow anything out. After they stopped by yesterday with a key for Katelyn, and my mom asked when it needed to be changed. -_- She was thrilled.

All the air boxes for this end of our building are right outside my bedroom window, but I like the noise. It's calming. xD

 • -tempts Oaters to come to Aussieland-
It's about 15c outside atm, about 59 for you guys.
We keep our AC on 21c (70f), the perfect temp all year round ^.^

but then in summer its about 40-45c... >.> <.< (104-113f)
 • That's too hot for me. I think I'll go live in Alaska. Where it's freezing cold ;D And I'll be a crab fisherwoman on the Bering sea. Or a coast guard rescue swimmer for district 17, and I can go rescue people off of sinking boats ;D

 • My parents dont heat the house in the winter nor cool it in the summer. They say its to expensive to waste there hard earned money on the ac. In the winter they light the fire place and tell us to wrap up in blankets... Grrrr....

 • My mother wont turn the AC on in the summer, at least not lately. But my house is on a cement slab. No basement. So the downstairs stays at about 70 degrees in the summer. The upstairs however gets to be around 75-80 degrees in the summer during the day, it cools off quite a bit at night, plus I have a ceiling fan.

In the winter we only heat our house to 63 degrees. I am used to it, however when I have friends over they freeze to death. lol

 • Wow, I cleaned my room the other day, and I placed the head of my bed RIGHT in front of my A/C. It now blows straight down across my bed when it's on =)
 • The last few days have been scorching here in SoCal. When I went out to put the umbrellas up and hose down the cement for my dogs, the thermometer was reading between 100-110. I've been slowly trying to clean up my room, but it's hard when indoor temperatures are 85 degrees. No AC either D: It's too expensive in general, and then even worse when it's this hot.
