• Ohio is where my dad and his "family" live so I may ahve to go and visit them this summer.
 • ALABAMA >:DDD

Go to the Little Zoo That Could (Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo) :3
 • Are you looking for places just inside the USA?

I'd recommend;

North Carolina
New Mexico
Virginia

North Carolina;

Fantastic views if you go up on the Blue Ridge Mountains, <a href="http://www.ncblueridge.com/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">click. The prices for cabins or camping aren't too bad, and I think there are some camp spots for free. The mountains offer a wide variety of paths, trails, waterfalls, etc. for all difficulty levels. Some will offer natural swimming holes, so if you like swimming then those might be worth a shot.

There are some places which lease/rent out horses for you to ride along certain mountain trails or across valleys. The price might be steep in some areas, but they are usually well worth it.

You can also go along the ocean to Cape Hatteras, Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, etc. There are some spectacular ocean views and some great lighthouses. It's gorgeous there and there are areas to ride horseback along the beach/in the water.

Unfortunately I have not gone to NC, but my parents have and they loved it. The photos they took along the Blue Ridge Parkway and in Nags Head/Kill Devils Hill/Cape Hatteras were amazing.

New Mexico;

I've never been to NM, but I've heard great things about it. If you love unique styles, artwork, buildings, and fantastic architecture then you'd love NM.

They have Spanish, Native American, and overall western history. They have some incredible landscapes and there are also some places which offer trail rides through the desert-y areas.

<a href="http://www.newmexico.org/western/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">New Mexico

Virginia;

Well, since I live here I think it's bland. I haven't done everything I want to do, like go to the mountains, so I suppose it's not all that bad.

Richmond is a decent city. The prices here aren't all that bad, honestly. Gas right now is only $2.40-ish, and I know in California where my brother lives it's over $3.20. Richmond offers the James River, which is home to the <a href="http://www.jamesriverpark.org/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">James River Park System. I absolutely love Belle Isle. My friend loves Browns Island because they host concerts for free or really cheap ($5-10). If you're into swimming then you'd want to visit Pony Pasture.

Going outside of Richmond you can visit; DC (3 hr), Shenandoah National Park (2.5 hr), Blue Ridge Mountains (2-3 hr), Charlottesville (1 hour), and so on.

Washington DC - Obviously there are a lot of places to visit, and most likely you can only get to them by walking. It's super busy. I think my family and I did a 18+ mile walk looking at all these different places and getting lost (without admitting it..). XD
Shenandoah - Great for camping and seeing wildlife/scenery.
Blue Ridge - Tons of waterfalls, tons of amazing views, and just overall great!
Charlottesville - A lot of concerts are held here, from rock to country.

There are a lot of historical places for civil war stuff in Richmond, Petersburg, and pretty much everywhere else in VA.

<a href="http://www.virginia.gov"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">Virginia

If you're willing to go outside of the USA, I'd recommend the Bahamas. The water is so crystal clear. It's gorgeous there. You can find sand dollars and sea life everywhere. I do believe you can do snorkeling if you're into it.

They do have cruises. I loved looking out and seeing these giant cruise ships sailing by. XD I think they offer one or two day cruises if that's just a "let's see how this is" type of thing.

Good luck picking a place! :) It sounds like you and your friend will have a lot of fun next year.

 • Have you thought about going somewhere with meaning for you guys? Like my friend and I are going to go to New Mexico to look for aliens. Which is kind of a joke, but ever since we were little we always loved going to play laser tag at this alien themed place, and always loved the idea of aliens and trying to find some. Or if you like ghosts you could go somewhere with a lot or haunted places to explore, or if you like a certian type of music go to the town your favorite band is from. Random stuff like that. Thats where my friends and I go. But wherever you decide, happy travels!
