It Saddens Me That...

edited June 2010 in Vent
It saddens me that the Humane Society I work at is so small that we can't take anymore dogs.

Today, we had 3 people come in with dogs they just couldn't care for any longer and we had to turn them down becuase we simply don't have the room.

One lady had a sweet little pug. We gave her a brochure for a pug rescue so she wouldn't have to take it to the dog shelter.

Another lady came in and she had a lab/collie mix that we couldn't keep. She had to get rid of it that day and her only option was to take it to the shelter where if it isn't adopted within the next few days it will be put down.

It upsets me that I have to see these beautiful dogs be turned down because we just don't have the room. They are turned away from a no-kill human society and many people take their dogs to the dog shelters that basically endure their death if they aren't adopted.

Our humane society is beyond small. I had my camera with me but didn't get any pictures.
I will take pics to show everyone just how small it is.

It jsut makesme sad that we can't help them

 • It makes me sad to because it's mainly elderly people that had dogs when they were more active and they cannot take care of them any longer , Which means more animals being put to sleep because of that. :( Elderly people should give away there dogs to younger more active friends so they live the life there intended to. Its the same for horses , I have a horse and it makes me cry when people shoot the race horses because they cannot race no longer, I know many people who have rescued race horses from the tracks because of them being shot. Its the same for dogs, Because elderly people cannot take care of there dogs the more chance they have of being put to sleep. Im gald you work for a Humane Society to save animals :) Thank You
