Learn to slow down and be carefull !!!! :|

edited May 2010 in Vent
Well April 30th marked the 9th year my dad was taken from my mom, my brother and me.
Sadly while working on the road for PenDot ( Where i live its the company that works on the road) he was getting his drink out of the back of his truck.
Someone with a SUSPENDED license's was SPEEDING slipped the wheel and hit and killed him. I was gonna be 5 on the 2nd of May that year. 2 flipping days before my birthday. My little brother was only gonna be 3 in July.

Your supposed to SLOW down where poeple work on the road.
But no this jerk had to be SPEEDING with a SUSPENDED License in a road construction area.

Wanna know what happened to the guy who hit and klilled my dad?
Nothing but having to pay us some money . :/
There is a new law set in place know that if you speed with a suspended license you will get in a lot of trouble !

And know just this Tuesday. The first PenDot worker in my area to be killed by someone hitting them happened.

In school on Wednesday i had a major break down.
They said my shorts were to short .
They yelled at me.
I was in tears because im stressed with school, and of course the PenDot worker being killed reminded me of my dad and I just couldn't hold it in anymore . I let it all out. Even told the Principles i flat out hate the Middle School/School district. They threatened me with in school suspension cause i was telling them my shorts weren't too short.
I text-ed my mom to come pick me up cause i just couldn't stand being in the school that day anymore. she picked me up and had a talk with the Principles. Lets just say My school's Principles don't read up on the kid's profile things or whatever there called. Cause he had no clue that all that happened and was dumb founded. So that made me happy that my mom went in a told off the principle. But know lets say that the schools employees probably hate me .
( they were like TWO inches from my knee the rule is FOUR!)

All i'm really trying to get at is :
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY THRU ROAD CONTRUCTION AREA'S.
Cause the men and women who work on the road may be Husbands/Wife's or Dad's/Mom's!

Sorry if it doesnt make sense but this needed to be put off my back.
So if im not acting normal again this is why :|

 • Im sorry to hear that. I to lost my mom but from natural causes so I know what its like to lose a parent and especially at a young age ( i was 16). My friend also lost her dad in a car accident becuase the guy was speeding.

You just have to keep strong and cry when you need to. Your lucky to still have your mom though she sounds amazing, i live with my grandparents and they would not stand up for me like your mom did.
 • oh and i defiantly think they should have strickter laws and harsher punishments for those types of crimes especially in the case where some one is injured or killed.

Totally agree with that .
Cause they could be someone very important to a person/family.
At the time my dad was killed my mom only worked at a gas station .
She had to take on extra time and have me and my brother were watched by my grandparents on my dads side.
Who have recently could careless about us.
They sent us our Christmas in the mail and the same with my birthday present. I guess there other grandchildren are more important.
My mom's parents passed away from some illnesses soon before and after my brother was born .

 • God, tiffer, I'm sorry that happened to you. Can't imagine how angry and frustrated I would be with stupid people who don't follow the rules of the road, not to mention with a suspended licence. Sick, really.

:(

 • I'm sorry Tiffer. :(

Perhaps your grandparents feel it's just too hard to be near you, for reminders of your father/their child? It's not exactly logical, but I know sometimes it's just too painful to be near someone. It's painful to be near them and it's painful to be away, but it's more painful to see you than to not. Have you tried talking to them, just you and them? Just tell them how you feel and how you know it's hard for everyone, and that you love them and wish they could be involved in your life. Even if it doesn't change their mind, it'll at least show them that you still care.

Laws that relate to car fatalities or dangerous/reckless driving need to be much tougher than they are. It's odd that the guy only had to pay money for what he did. He should have been locked up for a very long time instead. Money is replaceable, time and lives aren't. At least your area got tougher laws, it's just sad that something had to happen for it to change.

The sad thing is, you never know who is behind the wheel. You never know if they're under the influence, distracted, or upset. You never know if they might be having a stroke or heart attack. You don't know if they even have a license, or if it's suspended. They could be armed and dangerous, perhaps looking for a fight. If they have to slam on the breaks, will they? You never know if their brakes will fail, speed unintentionally [Toyota, mm.], or any number of things.

A person this week in my area was killed by a semi's tire. It blew off the tractor and most drivers swerved to avoid it, but one lady wasn't so lucky and she was killed. I don't think anyone would have suspected a tire to blow off of a semi, much less to kill someone. Your message is a good one Tiffer, and you're probably going to be one of the better drivers out there. People need to slow down and be observant of all laws, and all surroundings. Wake up a little earlier and get ready for work before they're in their car. Wait until they're parked before answering a text or phone call.

I never text or call when driving, or eat, or shave, or do any of those stupid things. I've never been pulled over or been in an accident. I always use my signals. I always use the headlights when it's dark or dreary, and the wipers when it's raining or snowing. In rainy or snowy weather, or at night, I reduce my speed.

I've never sped in a construction zone or near a cop that's pulled over. If I can, I get over in the next lane to give them some peace of mind. I do always reduce my speed, even if it ticks people off. I even do 10-15 mph in residential areas. I know I could do 25, but there could always be a kid in the road, a loose dog, a squirrel, or something else could pop up.

 • Aww im sorry Tiffer <3

Junior High/MIddle School is always the toughest part of your school years. Everyone is so picky and full of drama its unreal. I'm going into my SEnior year of high school and it's starting to calm down a bit for me.

My brother almost got hit by a drunk driver while working road construction one time.. I worried about him every day after that.

I know around here people speed a lot cause they think "Oh, this is the country, we dont have to drive the speed limit." I swear the fire alarms (i live close to the fire station) go off at least three times a week.

The main thing here is drunk driving or teenagers trying to beat a train across the tracks =/ I've had lots of friends and family pass away due to these things.. I know it's tough.. =/

*huggles* <3
