emu?

I might be buying 2 emu chicks soon. Has anybody owned emus, or tasted thier meat/eggs? I have been doing TONS of reserch. Most peaple say they are mean, but all the times I have seen them/pet them, they seem nice. From what I have noticed, they are vary food driven. :roll: <br><br> :D :D

D:<br><br>I've never owned any cause they all live on reserves here and I think it's illegal anyway, but yes, they are very very food driven, much like kangaroo's and chickens. <br>Their peck HURTS! So be careful.<br>Also they like to run, so i hope you have somewhere massive to keep them..

    My aunt owned 2 and I always used to love those things! They like to get right up next to you and sometimes peck at clothing, which normally freaks people out(I always laughed when they did it too me, but I was probably only 10-12). In my opinion, a well raised one should be friendly, but since they are potentially dangerous you should <span style="font-style:italic">always</span> be aware of where they are in relation to yourself, and what they are doing since they can really hurt you if they want to.

    My aunt use to breed them, they never attacked anyone - but when they saw their food bucket they came running. It freaked me out so bad I hopped a 5+ foot fence. XD<br>But then she sold them all.
