• Well every year the juniors pay for senior prom.
Well the juniors this year were flat out lazy and refused to sell anything in the fundraisers, so... all of us seniors worked our butts off last year to give the seniors of 09 an amazing prom, and we get rewarded by getting our prom out in the dirt with the cows.
Ohh how lovely =/

I would love having ours out by a lake or something like that, as long as its not mosquito breeding season =P

  • Lol, well its indoors still xD So. But, that sucks.

Ours is paid for by the Juniors as well. I'm not 100% sure how nice it's gonna be, I'm getting the bare minimum in details xD I don't go to that school anymore, so I'm getting this info relayed to me.

Oh well. I only care about seeing my friends again anyway.

And, maybe there will be horses at yours! And you can ride off into the moonlight! xD

  • I'm just curious about your tickets. How much were they?
My brother's school wanted to hold it at a fancy place(an hour away!!), and charge $70 with no dinner(at all or tickets would have been like $150)....but they just had to buy a guy that paints on fake tattoos...My brother went to the military ball instead, and it was only $30 for entrance and a steak dinner.

Prom is so expensive. I could never bring myself to spend more than $50 on school events.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • At my school prom is $45 per ticket.. I think that includes food but I'm not sure since I'm not going lol.
    2dbtohy.png
  • I haven't asked about ticket prices yet...
I was thinking that it is free, but i'm not sure.
I know we don't have dinner or anything while we're there, hence i believe we're all going to ihop afterwards, but so is everyone else at prom >.<

I'll check into ticket prices and let you know. lol

  • My ticket was 50$ and it includes food and transportation (from the school).

I'm excited to see my dinky little middle of nowhere school again xD

  • Its required at my school to pay for a prom ticket, even if you arent going. I dont get it. We have "Junior fees" and "Senior fees" we HAVE to pay or else they will literally hunt you down, call your parents, hassle you until you give it to them, etc. which includes a prom ticket. But I dont want to go to prom, but I guess I might as well since I have to pay for it.
Our prom tickets are $50, because our school is a money suck. We live in a pretty wealthy community, and the school has fundraisers for EVERYTHING, even if we don't need it. They like, hoard it. It doesn't include a meal, everyone always makes reservations at expensive places like Mickey and Mooch where a meal for one person is like $75. It's ridiculous. We're rollin up in a big ass king cab pick up and going to Waffle House for dinner after. xD We're that cool.

Are you in private school? I don't think they can require you to pay for it at a public school. Nevertheless I would not pay for something I am not participating in, no matter how much they harassed me.

It really does seem like the local high school is sucking away money too. They spend it like crazy on completely useless things, and then badger the students for more money when it's all gone. This whole prom thing here is a mess. I still don't see the sense in whining about money problems for prom when they purposely choose to hold it at a very expensive venue, that half the kids can't get rides to.

I also couldn't justify a $75 meal for one person! The Waffle House sounds nice.
Our school system claims to be going broke, yet our school has a new fundraiser every week and we're building a Habitat house. They bought all brand new metal picnic tables for outside, but we're required to buy our own CLASS reading books for english and I don't have text books to keep at home for half my classes because we can't afford class sets AND home sets.

  • Oaters-- sounds exactly like my school.

We just built a Multi-Million dollar football stadium, (which the community did NOT want being done with tax money)
and we don't even have the funds to buy textbooks for our classes. We have partial class sets where everyone has to share books and they're from 20 years ago. And i don't go to a -small- school. there's about 1500 kids at the high school alone. so we're pretty good size.
But we buy a stadium instead of teaching materials. >.<
    Ven.png
  • See where their priorities are! Sounds just like my school. There are only around 600 kids in the entire high school. We live in a dinky farm town. lol Two years ago, we built a million dollar soccer field. It has horrible drainage and we can't use it most of the time.

This year, prom's theme is Masquerade Ball. I'm super excited! I didn't go last year but my friends suckered me into going this year. Although, I planned on it anyway. Tickets are $25 a person and all that includes is getting into the event (it's being held at a bar... of all places). lol Guess the juniors couldn't afford a better place. It really cracks me up. We're having dinner before the dance, but I'm not sure where yet. Just a bunch of friends going together.

All I have to say is... They had better play the song from the Phantom of the Opera. Otherwise, my night will be ruined.
  • Ours is masquerade, too! I got the most awesome mask to wear. :DD

We have about 3400 students in our school, and it's just high school.

  • wow.. our prom is in on may 8th.. gonna be at the country music hall of fame.. $45-$70 for your tickets? thats crazy. our prom tickets were $15 dollars each 0.0 ive spent $300 on prom stuff.. but thankfully my aunt is a pro photographer so shes taking all the pics of me and my friends for free. and my cousin is a beautician in Louisiana, and is doing my hair and makeup free 0.0 id hate to see the price if i had to have all that done at a salon 0.0
  • our prom was 16 per person and 20 for a couple. I mean jesus, people probably feel stupid enough going alone but then making them pay almost the couple fee? That's ridiculous. And heyy! We have ours in the gym at the school! yeah, totally cool. Thankfully it's relatively inexpensive to rent a tux. Aand. Luckily I own one. Soo, prom wasn't too much for me. On the subject of schools "priority money" they are currently discussing dropping all funding for band because the "college has one we are allowed to play in, ONCE A MONTH" and then giving that money to basketball and football, imagine that. aanndd! We're somehow still required to play for pep band, even though there is no band class. They're priorities are so screwed up >< I won't let my momma put my little sister in band. I told her I'd give her private lessons (I'm number 2 in my state) if she wanted to play. Because I didn't want her to deal with the high school program. sad deal.
    paranoid.png
  • oh wow. our money is going towards building new hallways and stuff. we are getting two new hallways. a new main office. a new gym. and a new band hall. our band is actually going to a contest today. i hope they do well. i got outta band at the beginning of this year lol. our prom was almost in our cafeteria xD but we found the country music hall of fame at the last minute and was like "ahhhh! thats the place!"

Well, I'm a junior this year and we have to pay for our seniors pro,m. We get to go to it as well. I dont know about the other schools but I know that at our school, the seniors spend their senior years doing fundraisers for their senior trips. that way they dont have to pay for graduation, prom, AND their senior trips. they pay for graduation on senior trips while the juniors pay for prom =)

it may be different at other schools though iunno, thats just how ours works lol.
  • At my school, sophomores clean up after junior prom and help with their class ring ceremony. If they dont, then they dont get help with their ring ceremony and they have to clean up their own prom (same night, after its over) their junior year. So that makes us all want to do it..no idea what junoirs do for seniors since Im only a sophmore xD
Junior Ring ceremony?

All the lower classmen have to clean up after the Senior Rose ceremony during football, and track. and the two proms, and graduation. Its pretty much the same thing when we don't clean it up they make us clean it up the following year. But we have a pretty tightnit school who does things for other classes.
