My mom..

really frustrates me sometimes. \: She made me get rid of my cat, which I don't blame her for. Rosie wanted to be outside and she couldn't here, so she's living with one of my friends who lives on a 9 acre farm she can roam free on. Which is good for her, but it still upsets me.

So I proposed getting a dog. My own dog, she took my baby away from me and even though another pet will never replace her, I need -something-. A woman nearby has a Collie/Springer Spaniel mix who is already house broken, crate trained, leash trained, spayed and up to date on all shots. She has to find her a new home because of her hectic work schedule. This dog is absolutely GORGEOUS and perfect for me. Perfect size for where we live and low maintenance. I agreed to pay the apartment pet fee AND any vet bills and she already eats the same kind of food we feed our current dog. What did my mom say? 'I don't need the responsibility.' Uh, I think by 17 years old with a job and a 3.9 GPA, I'm responsible enough to keep a dog. But no.

I'm going to miss out on a really awesome dog just because my mom is being difficult. >.< I'm really upset.

 • she needs to realize that it's not about her and that if you are taking responsibility for it, you don't intend to fob it off on her :/

 • Or just realize she's sucking the life out of me one little piece at a time and eventually I won't have any reason for a pet because.. OH! I'll be alone and dead.

 • I know how you feel. :|

My parents are the same way, because apparently I'm not responsible or considered 'adult like'. Even though right now I am taking care of, a dog, a lizard, a chicken, and a cat - PLUS I am going against their wishes and getting some mice. (but I am living with my grandparents right now so it's whatever.) >:D
My parents like animals, but their only excuses are "They smell" "We have too many" or what your mom says...they will be responsible for it (which has never been the case - the only thing they buy is food for the dogs and my cat, because the dogs are family pets and my mom just buys cat food to buy it. XD) However, when I move the only animal of mine they are keeping is my dog because she is too fragile and old (blind) to move to a new place.

Anyways, I really hope you can talk your mom into it, maybe try something small first?
Usually, when I bring animals home my parents don't care afterwards it's just the process of them saying yes. xD
 • I have a hamster.. and I don't want a pet just to have a pet, and I don't want a zoo. I found a dog in need of a home and she's perfect, but my mom's stubborn. >.<
