EXTREME Pranks

edited April 2010 in Vent
Okay, it's one thing to tell someone their shoe is untied, when it's really not, and it's another thing to tape something to a table, and put a whole high school on lock down until the bomb squad can show up to blow the device up, while all the students are held in the football field by the police for hours. Yeah, guess what happened at my brother's school today?! It's ridiculous. That's the second time it's happen while my brother has been in high school. Last time was while we were freshmen. Someone had put a tape recorded with the words "I'm a bomb" on the bus, which caused my brother to miss class for questioning(since he had been on that bus).

Why do kids think that it is okay to do that? It's so incredibly inappropriate and stupid. It's really bad because our police department has been targeted by a gang lately, which has them on edge, because serious damage has occurred, and officers could have lost their lives. Whatever, I hope they enjoy their time in juvenile prison/prison.

My brother is not even home yet, but I'm curious to know who did when he gets home.

 • Okay, so it was apparently a sophomore and his friends. They purposely taped something they made in a shop/mechanics class to the table. My brother did not see it, but apparently they purposely made it look like a bomb, and planned it all out ahead of time. The bomb squad did show up, and did blow up the device, which damaged one of the school's outdoor tables for students to eat on. My brother said 3-4 of them were arrested.

I also asked him how everyone reacted because no one had told them what happened at first(the school and police called parents right away though). He said a bunch of parents showed up, even though the police told them not to, and that a lot of people just went home once the bomb squad was finished. That's another thing that really makes me mad. When the police tell you it's dangerous to go near the school, and you are told not to, why go? I understand you want to make sure your child is okay, but I'm fairly certain that if the police and bomb squad has arrived, they are taking care of the students. I also don't see why students went home, other than to take advantage of the situation.

Everything about the whole ordeal is ridiculous.

I'll post more info if anything changes.

I think that's part of it(especially the not getting in trouble part), but I think most of it's just for attention or reputation. I swear some kids don't think.
It's just like someone pulling the fire alarm. They get out of class, the fire department shows up and has to go through all the buildings and look in nooks and crannies, meaning kids get to stay out of class for a whole class period or two.

Granted, fire would be slightly less devastating than a bomb, but it's about the same concept I believe, lol.
