My rat Tempy.

I lost my rat... :'(
Shes nearly 2 years old, and I let her out every night for a couple of hours to run around... So I let her out last night and she was hanging in my room on my bed, and that's the last I've seen of her. She comes to her name and if shes in one of my sisters bedrooms i just go to the dog 'wheres the rat?' and shell sniff her out and then I just put her back in her cage... But not even the dog could find her..

We had 6 people scope the entire house, hoping to find her but we couldn't. I've been waiting and waiting to just see her in her cage, like when she gets thirsty or something like that, cause I've left the cage door open for her... but no luck.. I even let out her mate, but he couldnt find her either...

I'm in like a state of depression..

No one in RL really understands how amazing she was, and how much I love her, and how we were best friends..

I've had her since she was 6 weeks old and I miss her so much :(

  • :( That's horrible. I would never let my rats roam free without supervision (I can't trust them, they don't know their names yet and are just babies), so this has never happened to me. But I can imagine how sad you must be...

I hope she turns up somewhere, and unharmed. <3
  • She might have gotten outside, she could have found a hole or escaped if someone opened a door/window.
And a few people told me that their rats and/or hamsters have gotten lost in closets. O_O so search every square inch of the house, she could be anywhere.
  • I've never lost a rat, but I've had lizards and mice get out. What has always worked for me is putting down water, and maybe food. They can go without food for awhile, but they'll need water pretty fast. I also agree with Avla, check the closets! Every time my mice or something went missing, it normally came out of the closet to get water.

I hope you find her, and in the future you might want to get a play pen or leash. Rodents are just to easy to loose, even when trained.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • 3 days Later the neighbours found her, shes perfectly fine apart from a couple of little scratches.

I did also lay out her favourite food and water and checked every nook and crany and cupboard in the house. Nowhere.

And I know "I should have been watching her" but i did explain in 2 years shes never left, and I have faith in her still, shes not a normal rat.

It's pretty much like this, you take your child to school and you go pick it up after, they should be there, if theyre not theres something wrong.

Tempy was/is my child and no one can tell me otherwise.
  • O.o i'd be so glad the neighbors didn't kill her.
I know if a rat wound up in my house it would meet a mouse trap =P

  • That's wonderful that you found her! If you have alot of rats in your area, I would take her for a checkup, just in case. If you see any mood/health changes take her to a vet immediately.

  • thanks guys, the vet said she was all good just needed some rest and love, but there isnt many wild rats if not none that ive ever seen around my house i think thats why the neighbour was like :S thats not a wild rat... and then remembered we had rats...
  • I know your pain. I had the most fabulous albino mouse, Angelina. I loved that thing with all my life, she escaped her cage and my cat got to her. I loved that little mouse. So much.

I also had a dwarf hamster, it looked like an icecreme sundae with cameal sauce. She knawed her way out of her cage and I never saw her agian.

I really hope you find your rat, people don't understand how loving rodents can be. <:C

Depends. If it looks more like a pet than a creature from the black lagoon, it'll be caught by hand and put away safely, not returned with a trap stuck to its neck.

Thats saying my dogs/my cat didn't get to it o.o

I'm glad you found her! That must've sucked. I know that my dog Molly is more of a child to me than animal, and I'd freak out if she dissapeared.
