The girls get along fine so far! They've even been placed in the same cage as each other -- the much bigger one, for all to fit and enjoy. Layla and Jitter seem to love it, they're going crazy over the new space. They're not used to such a large cage with minimal boundaries compared to their last one. I'm not too sure if they'll be comfortable with sleeping around/with Dizzy, Jenny, or Angel, but they've all got their own relaxing spots... they do have many to choose from such as: Log house, Cube house, Fleece tube, Fleece tent, or just somewhere in a snuggly corner with some bedding. I am finally happy with the cage and all it has in it (especially its occupants! ) and decided to post labelled pictures to see what you think!

(I know it's only one level. My dad is supposed to be making a second one soon, but he's been terribly busy with work and I can't disturb him. He has to make things for other people that actually have profit first.)

(Oh. By the way, the cage was made by my father. He used like chicken mesh for the wires or something. It's all taped at the top so the ratties don't cut themselves on it, don't worry. I re-tape it every now and then to make sure it's keeping them safe too.)

Side view:

Top view:

alliedog; Most people are scared of their tails, yes. xD I actually have grown quite fond of their tails . xD

Hollywood; I still update this post sometimes with pictures and reply to comments, it just turns out that no one had posted for a while. I'd rather keep this one going than start a new one. (:
Metal/plastic or glass are definitely the best cages. I've had wood toys in my rat/mouse cages, and they just soak up the urine. I really couldn't imagine having a whole wood cage. I don't even buy wood toys anymore, unless they are small.

A lot of ratties get scared in pet stores. My Possum was freaked! Took the guy a good 10 minutes just to grab her, but once we got home she was calmer, and within a week we were bonded completely. I'm so glad you saw through the fear, because your new girl is lovely. She looks so soft.

I'm horrible with names, so no specific suggestions here. Maybe you should wait a week to see if she has any distinctive quirks that you can name her after.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.

The cage was a nightmare after they chewed the linoleum off of the bottom of it and the pee just got soaked right into the wood. Stunk like I hadn't cleaned their cage for weeks even after I cleaned it out completely. My parents and I were sick of it, so they finally bought me a new one for my birthday so they didn't have to wait for me to save up some more money. xD

The only two names that MIGHT suit her would be Echo or Ellie, and I like both of those. I'm just waiting to see if she does anything to make me name her something different. One of my older rats, Dizzy, earned her name from being really hyper and running around in circles all the time. xD So I'll give her some time, the right name will come along soon enough. (:

She is very soft! And so teeny tiny compared to my older three girls. I'm lucky to have been able to have snatched this girl up in time, the day after I put her on hold someone went in and was going to buy her and the other last girl. In about four days, 10 rats were all gone after I took this little one. There was a big variety in the beginning, but even then, I had my eyes on this particular female. (: I was lucky no one took her before I did!
