I think I'm gonna cry....

edited February 2010 in General Discussion
As most if not all of you know, me and my boyfriend had been taking care of a German Shepherd, Kimble ( <a href="http://i45.tinypic.com/246uz29.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i45.tinypic.com/246uz29.jpg; )...well, we couldn't adopt him just now because of our living arrangements along with me back and forth between FL and AL. Well I just got a message from my boyfriend saying that Kimble wasn't at the shelter, his card wasn't on his clipboard and his kennel had been cleaned...that means he was adopted. Not only that my boyfriend built a REALLY strong bond with him. I guess, as long as the owners are good to him I am happy, but I really loved him.

However, I've been looking into working lines and I'm thinking about buying one for my boyfriend and I (this summer of course, when we can afford one), because I have been wanting a dog to use in agility, flyball, etc. but I plan on surprising my boyfriend, I know how much he loved Kimble. -sigh-

 • Oh, wow. God, that must be really sad. :(
Didn't you have an adoption agreement or something that didn't allow the shelter to adopt him out?
 • Awwww that's sad, Avla!! I'm sorry... but at least she wasn't euthed or anything!!!! Hopefully the people that took her were GOOD people. Probably were :) She'll be happy, don't worry. I know that if I ever had to give up my dog (we almost did a couple times but didn't because I wanted to keep her so bad) I know she'd be happy with a family that actually wanted her ya know? Not saying you didn't want her, but, things happen in life that don't always accommodate a dog well, sadly. :(

You should totally look into some working GSDs if you think your bf could open his heart to another one..

 • Thanks everyone!

@Ludie Yes, we told the owner we where going to adopt him and we set up plans to take him in, but it apparently it didn't register..but another lady owns another part of the shelter so she could have adopted him out. :/

@Reina Yes, I would prefer him in a home than at the shelter just waiting for us to take him home. I talked to my boyfriend last night, he seems open to a puppy, I think a puppy would be best for us to because we didn't know how Kimble was around other animals, except dogs. And I have other animals that I don't want eaten. lol. But, I plan to look at some shelter dogs too, just in case we find one we like.
