I mean only when you eat xP nothing to do with when you write.

Apparently everyone here eats with their left hand. And people were making fun of me for eating with a right.. i was like o_O; woah didnt know there was a right and wrong way to eat XD
  • I eat with my right hand. People are either right-handed or left-handed. You tend to eat with your dominant hand. I'm horribly right-handed, but some people are right and left-handed. I can't do much with my left hand (other than type, lol). I think that the majority of people are right-handed, so you'd be in the larger group.
  • Actually, i found that in Britain, it is proper manners to eat with the fork in the left and knife in the right xD

and that you are never to have the prongs[pointy bits of the fork] point up while you have the knife in the other hand

and that when you eat[sip] soup for a spoon, you sip it from the side and not the end

o_O
and I'm sat loling as i read all of this xD
I was clearly never taught any of this >_>

I guess britain does everything backwards to the rest of the worlds. I mean we even drive on the left hand side of the road.
  • That's really interesting! I eat with both hands (even though I'm lefthanded). I use chopsticks with my right. I find it more comfortable in my right. xD

Well, it's good that I'm not in Britain, lol. I'd end up getting to eat about 2 bites out of a whole meal, and it'd be a disaster. Or actually, I could stab my food.

  • I agree with snowjo, people tend to eat and do things with their dominant hand, and most people are right handed. I'm a dominant right, but I use both to eat depending on the utensil and food.

What it comes down to is cultural differences in etiquette and taboos.
Some cultures actually look at being left handed as a taboo or inconvenience. I've heard that a lot of Asian cultures look at it as an inconvenience or something socially unusual, so they will raise their kids to be right handed even if they were born left handed(I believe some Americans probably do this too). In one episodes of a show I watch the girl said she was "born left, smacked right". I've also been told that Muslims never eat or shake someone's hand with their left hand since they reserve the left hand for bathing and cleaning themselves. All of them are neither right nor wrong, but you should make an effort to follow the basics in your country to avoid insulting others.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
  • I noramally eat with my right hand, unless I'm cutting food with a knife. tHen I hold the fork in my left hand.

Yeah, I thought most people would use the dominant hand, therefore I use my right, but almost all of my friends are right handed and they use the left, same with my family, everyone is right handed but use the left.

Just seems to be what is considered manners in Britain xD
And I know that it is haram[forbidden] for muslims to eat using the left hand, so atleast there are something like 1billion people using the right hand straight away xD

For me using my left hand is just awkward, food falls of the fork, my arms is flapping everywhere, i miss my mouth o_O
So I think i'll stick to right hand eating xD too bad if others find it insulting. I'd rather not miss my mouth while eating at a posh resturant >.>
  • I use my right hand for eating and my left hand to cut food with a knife.

If I try eating with my left.... there's some problems there. xD

  • I'm all right-handed. xD
Eating, punching, writing, kicking (right-footed, too.) Everything is my right side. xD

(: tadaaa.
