Weird Noise: What is it?

It started a couple weeks or so ago, and it's this really creepy noise. Well, not exactly a "sinister" noise, but it's really weird. I stay up really late and night and some times into the early morning watching TV or doing whatever, but I hear this noise, that sounds Exactly like someone flipping a light switch. From where I'm sitting right now I'm right next to a hallway, and in the hallway there is a door to the bathroom, and most bathrooms have an echo (don't ask me why) and sounds, sound different in there. It sounds like someone flipping the light switch in the bathroom down the hall. The Bathroom is also next to my bedroom. So I hear it from the bathroom in my bedroom. I can hear it from just about anywhere. But it's only in the bathroom, no other room makes that noise. Not to mention, the light never goes on or off it just sounds like someone's playing with the light switch. This happens usally when everyone's in the Living-Room or any time nobodies in the bathroom. Is this like, an electrical thing? It's really creepy, and annoying. It freaks me out and never sleep with my door open anymore because The angle my bed is at I can look through my open door directly into the bathroom. xDD Seriously, does anyone have an idea of what the noise is?

Have any pets that could be making a noise by bumping into something? Do you have a sump pump that could be turning on/off and making noise?

Do you have/use heating vents? When our heater turns off it sometimes clicks, sometimes clangs. What about an ice machine on a fridge? When I had a creepy noise problem for months it turned out it was normally my brother getting some water and ice from the fridge late at night, but from my bedroom it never sounded like it was coming from the kitchen. Might be the pipes. Pipes echo really bad, and toilets make their fair share of strange noises. I guess if nothing else it could be a pest problem. My mom told me a story about her first house, and how she could hear mice in the walls at night. Apparently it took a few weeks to get rid of them....and then there was a wasp hive, but that was buzzing instead of scratching or clicking...

My first thought is a bug.. Do you know those bugs that make a clicking noise when they like jump? You might not have them up there, but there are a lot of bugs that click.. i dunno Another thought was metal expanding? but probably not xD

If it's in the bathroom, my first thought would be a very slow drip on a faucet or toilet. If the drip falls just right, it may sound like a click rather than a drip, especially if it's in the toilet. After everyone goes to bed, put a dry cloth in the sink and tub and see if it's wet in the morning. Or sit next to the toilet for an hour or so and see if it's coming from there.

It may also be water pipes cooling off. We have plastic pipes in our house, and when you run hot water in the kitchen sink, you know when it's arrived because the pipe under the floor thumps as it gets hot. It thumps again when it cools back off. During the day, when people are around, the sound isn't noticed because of background noises. At night, or when there isn't much activity in the area, there's no other noise to drown it out.

It's a GHOST! :twisted: It's coming to get yooh Chibs! HIDE! lol, I would think it's probably something simple like a pipe expanding or something. Our house creaks and pops at night as it cools down.
