Dog Crates

<span style="font-size:75">I'm looking to get a dog crate for Bella. She's not misbehaving or anything, but we're going to be traveling across the country in 1-2 short months and she needs one. Plus when we get there, I don't think she'd mind some place to get away and relax/destress since she's a very anxious dog.<br><br>The dilemma is this: <br>We don't know if we're flying or driving. So if we were flying, we'd just get her the bigger size(28" tall, 36" long max for the dog), since it'd be more comfortable for her. But if we're driving, and we'd be in and out of hotels, would this be too big to lug around even if we took it apart?<br><br>The other crate is a 25" x 32" which is perfect size for her really. But it's a 10 dollar difference and the sale ends Monday so I need some thoughts.<br><br><br>Oh! and for driving, I don't know what kind of vehicle we'll be taking, but it'll be of a fair size.. Probably something where seats can fold down and whatnot.</span>

    If you can afford to, you may want to buy both, and then just return the one you decide you don't need. This also assumes that wherever you're buying it from will accept a return.

    Ah! Crates are so expensive! I just bought a wire one yesterday and it ran me $70 for one that was 30 inches.<br><br> My personal opinion is that if it's for crate training or housing then it should be bigger. If it's strictly for travel(car rides) then a smaller crate would probably work. If you are flying you might want to check with the airlines first because there might be regulations on what type and size of crate they recommend. <br><br> What does she weigh? What breed is she?

    <span style="font-size:75">Yeah, there's a sale though! For a 28" airline safe it's 80 and for a 30" it's 90. <br><br>She's already crate trained, but we haven't used one in a long time so she might need a bit more training. But besides travel/time alone in hotels she'll never be closed in the crate. <br>The crates we're looking at are approved by the airlines.<br><br>She weighs around 45 pounds though admittedly she should be a bit bulkier. She's a mutt though. We don't know what kind but we're guessing a shepherd/terrier mix. </span>

    My personal opinion is to go for the bigger one if it's just a $10 difference. <br> Online charts suggest a dog that weights 45 lbs. needs a 36", but if you think she fits in a 30" use your best judgment; some dogs are proportioned differently.<br><br> Maybe you should take her to the store to compare the crates right next to her?
