Alright so this is what went down last week. I got a job at the dollarama on the south end of my city. This location was Brand new didn't open for at least a week. So my "boss" gave me the option to come in the week before the store opened and help stalk shelves. I came in 3/5 of the days and stocked my ass off. Each day was for 5 hours each before heading off to class at the college. Everything was going good until The last day, the day I shouldn't not came in to help out. That day head office came in to take a look around and Decide who will stay and who will go. Anyways that day I stocked 12 items, moved over the whole back wall a foot over to add another column of Items and worked through the last break with a key holder (the person in charge of the aisle) Filling up any half empty hangers. Once the last hour was up, Everyone was called back to the office and Daren (The boss) talked to each one of us separately. I was let go on the spot. Apparently head office had made a list of people who won't be working there, and I was one of them. At first I wanted to ask why but I knew, it was because of my appearance. He didn't bother look at my work ethics or even my resume. No he judged me purely on how I look. And to top it all off I am fat, yes I admitted it. Which also makes it harder to find a job, they all prejudge me before I even had a chance to proove myself. They all do. That is why it's impossible to find a job in this damn city, it's all about looks. Well FYI not everything is about looks. what about the quality of my work? or my customer service? This world is so damn CORRUPTED. So thats my rant, thanks for reading

THAT IS HORRIBLE! If you're on your way to work, you're going there because you're going to work, not be judged upon your appearence. I find that absolutely ridiculous. The appearence to someone does not reveal who they truly are or how hard they will work. Seriously. There are just some people out there who can't help but judge books by their covers because they think it will save them time in the long run.

Can I go beat up those head office people for you? - -; I've been struggling with my appearance for around a year, and I know what it's like to be put down like that. If I were you, I would go have a "word" with them, (maybe some punches included? - -;). It really gets on my nerves when people call someone "fat" cuhs, well, it just bothers me. I admit, I'll judge people by the way they look, but hey, I won't say "You can't work here cuhs we don't like the way you look." That's just not cool. The world is corrupted. Now everything seems to be about how you look or crap like that. Whatever. Hey, just ignore idiots like them. You'll find a workplace someday where people accept you for who you are, on the inside AND on the outside. (;

I know how that feels. But not because Im overwieght, which I am to an extent, but because of the way I dress. People take one look and ask me to leave. You will find some place to work. I'd try somewhere that has to do wtih animals. They never seem to pick because of looks, but maybe thats just here? Good luck.

Yes, we all know the world revolves around looks. People in magazines are airbrushed, thin peope are preferred in media, beauty is everything. Yeah it sucks but its reality. And did you think about the fact that they just can't afford to keep you? Did they fire others because of their weight? I feel your accusation is built on assumptions and speculation. If they really did et you go because of it, yeah it was wrong but you'll find something else where you are more appreciated.

I'm honestly lucky that the only times corporate has come in while I've been at work, I've been doing my job and looking decent. Most of the time I look pretty horrible, because I work at 4am (stocking, doesn't it suck?) and the one day someone came in and literally did tell people they were fired, I had called in sick. One possibility is they'd used you to set up before they opened, and they didn't need many people once they opened. No matter what it really sucks, and I'm sorry for that. One thing you can do, if you feel it was about your appearance, is go to your city's better business bureau (check with city hall), and they can investigate to see if similar things have happened to others, or do happen to others through them. It's worth a shot, especially if you honestly, 100% believe that's what happened.

Though I don't like it, I can see why people with tattoos or an eccentric style might be their last option for employees, but to judge someone on their weight is wrong. I admit that I do judge somethings(everyone does), but to factor it into whether or not someone gets a job is not ethical. I'm not overweight, but I have really wide hips, and broad shoulders that read as "fat" to people who think women should look like 12 year old boys that are as straight as a stick. It really makes me angry that such an unhealthy image is standard in people's minds.

-hugs- Finally someone like me im judged over my weight too Im 30pounds underweight and look like a pole my arms are as thin as pencils I have been afraid to go out in public to much because people always stare at me and point i heard some 13 year olds giggling about me I feel so out of place when i walk into my favorite stores but lucky for me i work at my dads restaraunt and am not judged by my boss And im coming down there -pops knuckles-
