*epic sigh*
Well, I've been looking for a horse of my own, and I wanted to get enough money for board for atleast a year. I've found a few horses near me that are for sale, and one that I'd like to buy from Vampy. lol
The one I've found that I like the best is actually free, though the owner wants to make perfectly sure that your not going to buy her for free and sell her to make fast cash. >.> And since I've been wanting my own horse, I doubt that it would be very difficult to get her, minus me still being a minor and all. x.x
But see, the problem is-I have no effective way to get the $1200 for board+horse fee+shipping+vet..
I could probably get a job somewhere, or at the stables by my dad's house on the weekends. Which I would be happy being able to ride and care for their horses, as well as make money. The gas for the trip up and back when I'm with my mum would be a pain in the ass, but I think it's logical enough coz-
1. I'm still riding and getting experience on different horses with different personalities and quirks. And
2. I'm still getting paid, even if most of it goes to gas for the drive, I'm nonetheless still getting money to add to my fund.
But my point is-my mother refuses to let me get a job..Anywhere. And there's so many ridiculous excuses..
-I'll have to drive my brother everywhere he wants to go as soon as I get my liscence and car.
-I'll have to go do all the grocery shopping and errands for my mother.
-I'll have to save all my money so I can get a better car.
-I'll have to conserve gas, because all the price is going to do is get higher.
-I'll have to go to taekwondo every monday, wednesday and friday because I "need" to get a blackbelt so that she feels that she taught me how to defend myself, and didn't fail as a mother.
-School is a higher priority than a job.
-I can ride with my friend Drew, I don't need to go make thousands to get my own horse. (this makes me feel bad, all I do is help him clean the bottom barn when I go ride with him)
-How will I pay for all of it's food and housing?
-How will I get to the barn to ride it when I could be doing more productive things?
And oodles more that I don't care to list. I don't understand how it's not productive to be determined to do something that I want to be a priority in my life. Truthfully, I think she might let me end up making a decent amount of money, enough for one, and then tell me that I'm not allowed to use it to buy one. She'll probably tell me to put it into a savings account and buy one after I'm done with college. -.-
It makes me so upset! ><#
And the fact that she told me that she refuses to let me go to an equestrian school in place of my college, because "it's not a logical career choice" or something. >.> She keeps telling me that if I go to a college for something "logical", like being a lawyer or graphic designing that I'll make enough money to have all the horses I want and be able to pay people to care for them. x.x I want to care for my own damn horses! -.o *eye twitches* I don't want to ride them and make other people care for them..and I want a relationship with the horse(s) I have.
Anywho-back to my ranting about jobs and such...
I don't know what to do about this..I'll probably get about $150 or so for Christmas, and then all the gifts that I won't ask for. Or a Journeys card that I'll never use. And then I only do small commissions around the neighborhood and for kids in my school. My latest commission was a $10 tattoo designs for a boy in my grade..and he ended up forgetting it at school and getting a different one. *rolls eyes* he thought I was going to give him another one for free coz he didn't use it! Ha! I don't think so.

But anywho..any ideas for making money that don't involve getting a job at wendy's or anything..? I'm getting more and more frustrated everytime I go to try and do something, and end up not being able to do it... :(

 • I know how you feel. Im stuck babysitting. You could try that. I babysit for family, friends, and family friends during the week, weekend, I even do overnights at my house. Kids love it and I love being able to have a good relationship with them and getting some life experience out of it. It can actually be pretty fun, and these people tend to pay me more because they know Im in need of cash. I got $100 for an overnight (about 48 hours of just playing with, feeding, and putting the kid to sleep) once. Hey, and if you babysit teeny tiny little ones you might as well be getting paid for watching them sleep most of the time. Once winter passes you could try grass cutting. I make tons of money doing that in the summer, espically cause some peoples grass grows fast. Try doing chorse around the house? If your mom says no ask a relative. Ive been paid to do my aunts laundry and clean her room before. Think of little things you could do for cash. Snow shoveling, perhaps? Wrapping presents for people who are too lazy too? I know it starts out slow and hard, but once the money starts rolling in you may even start to have fun doing it. I know when Im making monmey doing something Im much happier than if Im doing it for free xD

 • I have the same problem with wanting to be a rider but having to get a 'logical' career as well xD but Ive decided I want to be a vet, then specialise in Equines. oh & marry someone rich, then run a stables & practise with their money =D I havent a hope at all of my own horse at the moment, unless we win the lottery or something. I only get to go riding once a week during term time, and atm, it is almost always cancelled due to rain. And when I do go (its a school activity, as my old stables was sold & i couldnt be bothered to go back xD) there are 5 people who really cant ride, and about 3 who can. So we get nowhere  At my old school, my best friend had about 5 horses, so I used to go to hers alot, because she lived about 5mins away, and my dad didnt mind driving me there, because he liked her dad. But then she moved about an hour away, and we changed to different schools, so Ive been once. Before school started...
They dont give away horses for free where I am.. the good eventers/show jumpers are £6000+.
Have you thought about loaning? Some owners pay for everything, minus a few bits and bobs. At lease untill youve saved money.
As for jobs, maybe you can so a few handy things for neighbours ect. Gardening, dog walking (always good) pet sitting whilst they are on holiday, even washing cars. If you and some friends went to a fair thing, you could offer to wash cars whilst people are at the show. They sometimes might pay $10+. If you have elderly people in your neighbour hood, you can help by doing grocerys & stuff. These are just little, quick things to make money xD

 • lol. Everyone in my family is cheap. ><# I got $6 for 2 hours of babysitting for my aunt. x.x
But yeah, like I can't cut grass coz I don't have a lawn mower..
I don't normally babysit because most people think that I have an uncontrollable temper, but it's controlled..it's just noticable that it's difficult for me. Half of my neighborhood thinks I'm a psychopath because I threatened to put a boy in the hospital for saying something rather ignorant and inapropriate to me. >.>
I'd love to shovel snow, because I already like doing it..but no one that I know in my neighborhood has any care to let someone else do it, they all make their own kids do it for free. x.x
And my mum says that I should do chores around the house for free because I should want to help out. *rolls eyes* lol

xD well, then I'll add the part where I don't know how to work one without killing myself or anyone else. lmfao

And I have thought about leasing. I'm looking into that as well as buying my own horse..I found a nice one for free lease as long as it's less than a days drive away (only four hours from me, and I'm allowed to bring him up). the only thing is that he needs to be trained and started showing within a year or so, and I could do that with the help of my friend, except they refuse to have anyone under 18. >.>

Maybe you could talk to them about the age? How old is your friend? If you talk to them about how you are responisble, and are waiting for the oppertunity to prove it. You could get your barn owner to write to them, a statement or something, to try and pursuade them..

 • we're both the same age. sophomores. x3
he's been riding forever though..and I don't think that Mendy (barn owner) would be willing to do much for me. x.o
I'm not sure she's too fond of me, because we end up getting in trouble everytime I'm up there riding with Drew because we don't have anyone over 18 with us, yet the other lady that works there/is a friend of Mendy's said that it was fine for us to ride and that she'd tell Mendy we were riding. She ended up saying it like we never actually asked, yet we did come up to the house and "talk" a little bit. *rolls eyes* I don't like that lady at all. >.>
And Drew, individually (without me to keep him calm) can get testy with the horses he rides (which is normally Toby, his horse). Toby's gotten backed into walls and hit over the head with the reins and yanked hard on his bridle with a bit in..so I wouldn't really trust him riding a horse I would be leasing alone either..
I mean, he doesn't abuse them..he just gets extremely pissed and then the horse gets nervous and ends up going into a wall or such. And I don't think them getting hit with the reins is too bad, unless it's pointless or more than need be...if you get my point..?
