Lets see if the breed savvy VPians know what breed(s) Iris is. We already know what breed(s) she is. But lets see if other people can guess. She's a bit on the heavy side currently, as she is expecting pups at the end of this month. She was kept tied up in a junk yard, with several other males running around. And came to us like this. We are keeping all her pups. And she is getting spayed after she has them. YAY!! I like to pride myself by showing off my breed knowledge. lol But when it comes to uncommon breeds, I'm not the greatest. I was going to guess Alaskan Husky. Then I thought Siberian Husky mixed with German Shepherd Dog. But.... I don't know.

She's actually none of those breeds. She's not really uncommon either. Maybe uncommon to the pet world. But not really uncommon.

I think she might be a wolf/coyote x shepherd breed. how she stands/places her back legs looks somewhat wolfish.. but she is beyond adorable!

FemaleVamp sorta guessed it. She's Coyote. She was trapped 5 yrs. ago by some guy, and kept in a junk yard as a pup with several other dogs. And used for dog sledding/racing. She was then rescued by someone who was renting out my parents' shop. They ended up leaving her, and her mate Toby, a Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever who had to be euthanized for killing our Dachshund mix. Iris came to us pregnant near the end of October. And will be having her last litter at the end of this month. We're keeping her pups. And getting her spayed. She had 2 litters with her first owner, another 2 litters with her 2nd owner and this one with us. Despite her small size, and her mates' small size... Their pups have gotten well over 100lbs by 6mo. to 1yr. She was also taken into our local vet, and they had told us there is no way she's mixed with anything. When she's skinny, you can really tell that she's Coyote. Her personality matches that of a Coyote as-well. I guess it's not that uncommon up here for people to trap Coyotes and keep them as pets. But she's a very great dog. And one-of-a-kind!! Aww, she has a pretty sad story. Five litters? Wow! And a junkyard dog? Poor girl. Regardless of the vet, I think she's mixed with Coyote, not full. But that's just from what I can see.

Deff think she's a mix too. She seems larger than a regular coyote. She's coot though.

Is she shaved? That could be why people are thinking she's mixed. But if she is shaved I think with a full coat she'd look much closer to the picture. Poor girl, it's good she has a good home with you now. ^^ Good luck with all those big dogs once the pups grow. lmao You'll have your hands full!

She was just shaved in August. I guess she doesnt really care for the heat, so her previous owner had her shaved down every summer. That's why her tail isnt as bushy either. But it grows back soon. I'll take pics of pups, and after she's had them, etc. We are getting a DNA test done on her here within the next month or so. And we'll know then too.
