Some of you may not know me but I'm so happy I had to post it
She's a tan chihuahua named Lucy...=) full of personality already!! Atleast she's paper trained
Question.. why are you teaching a dog to use paper? The last thing I'd be teaching a puppy is to pee in my house.. but that's just me. :?

oh I swear to ya, I'll be there for ya.

xD Yeah. I also teach my dogs to go outside, but I noticed a lot more people using "pee pads" or paper as potty places for littler dogs for some reason...
She was already taught that, and we live to close to the road my older dog, Brownie(3yrs) got hit by a car earlier this year and he is a chihuahua aswell..So. we rather not risk it, and we have tons of newspaper a day
At least you've found something that works then. ;D But you don't have a yard at all? I wouldn't be able to stand having my dogs pee on paper in my house... I'd always be taking them outside on a leash. xD But that's just me. (:
Actually, if you don't want to keep taking her out on a leash so she can go outside, I can suggest something else

We have a special dog run here hooked up for our dog. Its a long 'cable' that goes from the house to a tree in the backyard. Hanging from it, there's a double ending leash hooked up to something that looks like a pulley. All we do is hook Bailey up the end of it and she can run to the bathroom on her own and not run off. If you're more interested in this (its not expensive) I can show you some pictures so you can get a better idea.

You can also do a basic thing where you have the metal rod/hook in the ground and hook your dog up to that. It will take awhile to train her to come when she's done instead of playing outside.

You may also want to try hanging up bells. You ring the bells before you let your dog out to the bathroom and only when going to the bathroom. After some time, your dog will start to ring those bells when she has to go out. Do not ring the bells when taking her out for a walk or playing in the yard.

Congrats on the dog ^-^

We do this EXACT same thing! ;D Good idea, right there. xP
We have a chihuahua and he's never been trained to pee on paper, we took him out on the leash when he was younger, and eventually he learned just to stay close and we don't have to use a leash anymore.

Yeah, if you ever decide to potty train outside, its going to be a lot harder when they're taught to go inside.

one of my friends got a toy breed, and it was too cold out in the winter for it I guess... so they trained it inside, and they cant get it to go outside now =P

But, congrats on the puppy =D
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.

o.O too cold to go to the bathroom outside...? Isn't that why dogs have fur? xD I shaved Sayge down right before snow (she looked like a mop) and her fur was pretty short... she still went outside no problem, we just let her in earlier than we normally did so she didn't freeze her little bum off. Her fur's grown out more, but we still let her out, let her pee, and let her back in right away in case she's cold... unless she wants to stay out and play with her dog siblings. ;D

I find that the only problem you could have with that (if the dogs would be in view of people in vehicles driving by) is that your dog could easily be stolen! Chihuahuas aren't hard to pick up and take off with... and I could easily see it happening... just letting you know.

I'd love that idea..but we are not safe here so ><..Idk..put yea I'd love to see pictures!

We do but it works better bc of my broken foot and mom is old and refuses to walk them <_<

Nooo. You don't leave it out there. You stand at the door and wait until their done with their business and get them right back in.

xD Not my logic, lol.

xD Okay. I see now. I thought you meant that if you want to leave them out to play outside but also so they don't take off; then that would be a good idea. Never mind, my mistake.
No worries, I can see how you'd misinterpret since those posts in the ground are generally for when the dog wants to play outside.

I'll get some pictures for you tomorrow Chihuahua Its a little dark out now.
