-insert choice word here- low d flat Dx

edited December 2009 in Vent
Okay, so I'm a flute player. If anyone has ever heard a flute you know that we usually play in the higher register. Well for a piece in our winter concert- snow angels - i appear to be the ONLY flute playing the lower register of the split part. I'm a little pissed no one else will even ATTEMPT the lower part but thats another matter entirely. The problem is -insert choice word here- low d flat. It's freakin below the staff Dx I dont mind trying to challenge myself but geez I sometimes hit it and other times you either a-cant hear me or b-its really scary O.o If I didnt love my flute or have to use my music I think I would throw it aacross the rooom and rip the music into tiny pieces and BURN it!! Grrr - an hour and a half of one bleepin note and it its still screwed up.

The worst part is despite my practice, request for help and being the only lower register flute I get yelled at >.<
Wow i know how you feel...I'm a flute player also...Got to get it fixed..It won't play below the low F
 • Haha, not too long ago one of my keys wasnt closing all the way so my f all around wouldn't play so I know what thats like. We do alot of our tuning on f so it really sucked. But I showed my director and he fixed in like 4 seconds lol.

 • Lol our director is at honor band with some people as we have our assistant band director who doesn't know much about flutes...Are your brass favored in band for you?
 • Ehhh not really - during marching band the brass, pit, and battery had instructors and ww didnt have a personal insrtuctor - but usually if we need help we get it =3

 • For us only the battery, guard and majorettes had instructors..Usually they made the ww march when we needed just as much help as the brass but we never got it..>=(
 • I know the feeling lol. I'm no flute but I am a french horn. And playing in the lower or upper for us is near impossible! And jumping from a F to a high G is no easy task in the right parts.

I feel your pain
