...Leave it. OK, well, I just had this little expirience and I thought I'd share it with you.

I was sitting in the living room eating some yummy grapes. Suddenly, one fell to the floor, right in front of Molly, my six year old lab mix. Of course she lunged for it. I said "Leave it" in a firm voice but it was too late. She grabbed the grape. (FYI, grapes & raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs, but I wasn't too worried because one grape wasn't going to hurt a big dog like Molly.) I was more concerned about the fact that Molly had disobeyed me. I scolded her in a firm voice to let her know that I meant buisness. I told her to "leave it" again even though I didn't think there'd be any hope. And then.....very reluctantly....she spit out the grape. (You may think that's kinda gross but fortunatly the grape wasn't all chewed up.....just slobbery.) By this time I had made my way back to the couch, giving up all hope, and when Molly saw that I wasn't looking she almost grabbed the grape again. But, I caught it just in time.

Well, 1 grape would not have harmed Molly if she hadn't obeyed, but I got to thinking, what if it was something dangerous? Like a big block of chocolate she got a hold of? Getting her to spit it out or at least not touch it if she hadn't already began eating could saved her life.

So, I know it's a little random and weird, but I just thought I'd share with all you dog owners out there about how important the leave it command is. Thank you, thank you. *Bows*

OK, that's it, feel free to comment and share other doggy training tips.
