He probably pukes it up because candy and junk food upsets their stomach. And he probably doesn't eat dog food because he knows he can get what he wants and you don't seem to be doing anything about it.

OK, if he doesn't eat dog food and eats candy all the time, he is not getting any nutrition. He will eventually develop serious health problems. I agree with andi. Take him to the vet. And stop feeding him candy.

We got a crate for her..

I work with dogs and alot of people feed their dogs because they feel guilty that they work.. the dogs are fat and slow and sore and have a much POORER life then they would have if they were a good weight..
By 2-3 your poor dog will be fat, and sore and not have much enthuiasim for life, You wouldnt like it if someone did that to you, would you?
Not to mention if he forgets to spit out the stick he could swallow it and die

What makes a dogs life good:
Love; Attention; A warm bed; A long walk; Basic food.

Dogs do not NEED treats. Oi vey..

I have nothing to add considering everyone else made good suggestions. And I find it quite odd that a cat will eat potato chips.. most cats won't bother with food other than their own unless its something creamy. There are many ways to keep animals out of things. Heck, there are things made to keep bears out! Im sure you can figure out something for your dog and cat. If you can't even do that.. maybe you shouldnt have a pet?

Andi I love the gingerbred things for dogs. I will make those for Bailey when we do our holiday cookies. I may try one >.> seems like dogs and people can eat those xD

  • If you really care about your dog, you should stop feeding him junk food right away. Crate train him. Get locks for your drawers/cuboards. My dog knows how to open drawers, boxes, and packages, so now we crate her. She almost died one day from getting into a drawer full of bread and eating it all. That's why I do not take this lightly. Being careless about what your dog eats will lead to health problems.

You are acting like you don't even care about your dog. We have warned you and given you advice. If you do not stop feeding your dog this junk food, it will lead to serious health problems. I am not going to bug you anymore, but 2 years from now when your dog's obese and has diabeties, you'll wish you'd listened to us.
It seems to me that you are making excuses to refuse responsibility for the dog.
I'm sure that your mother would look at this more rationally if you provided her with all the facts the people of VP have so kindly provided you with.
I mean, you have someone who is a pre-vet grad AND someone who worked under a vet telling you to stop..
And all you do is make excuses how there's nothing else you can do.
Or it's not your fault.
Do you love the dog? • This isn't about having authority over your mom, because it's natural that you have none. But you can put the candy etc out of reach and find a crate for the Dane. Heck, I don't even keep junk food in my house.

Um...I don't really see why age matters at all in this case. Just because you're not an adult doesn't mean you can't at least try to keep your dog healthy.

I didnt..
And i took things they were going to give her .. and gave them to the other dog, so they didnt find out.. she is now a good weight and it only took about a month.. Would have been less if i hadnt had to do it single handedly..

My point: Its not hard. Do it yourself. My mum didnt even know.

  • I do understand that all of you are suggesting great ideas to help my dog. Hes not overweight and he eats dog food very occastionally when not puking it up. We have never given him chocolate and never plan to. He does like to eat chicken and sometimes he eats a piece of hamburger. i am sorry for giving "excuses" but i do love him but i never actually get to see him much due to my busy days with football, basketball and baseball practices and some monday detentions for lousy things.

We are not trying to be rude. Only trying to help you and your dog. I'm not gonna bug you anymore (I mean it this time) but I hope you realize that though your dog isn't overweight now, he will be if the junk food doesn't stop. I know someone tht fed their dog people food. The dog is now overweight and has severe joint and back problems. The poor thing can't even walk down two stairs or climb onto a chair. I am just warning you to try a little harder, because your dog could eventually end up like this.
