:x At least half brother to half sister. I mean really. It's not bad and it's not like there are diseases on this game anyway.

 • Buffy would have to vote no.
That would make it was too easy to get to 10x4 with very little work... by just breeding siblings to eachother.

I enjoy working my lines and such, which is why my vote would have to be no.

 • Not siblings. Half siblings.

Diseases or not on the game linebreeding is a pathetic excuse by real time breeders to make a particular trait permenant with little regard for the long running aliments that the breeds suffer.

Examples
German shepherd [show variety] with the lowered hips are literally crippled once they reach 5 years old due to human ignorance of them looking "better"

Rhodesian Ridgeback - the "ridge" is actually from a de-grading and out of shape spine and pups with proper spines are killed by breeders who want that oddity.

Just because there are no diseases here, yet, doesn't mean we should allow serious line breeding.

Besides that's the easy way to get good stats... if you think about it, you can get 10x4 stars with a mere 10 animals as starters if you know how to breed them properly.

I used a mere 7 Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs and 12 Mioritic Sheepdogs for example to get 9x4 stars.

 • Id be nice but to easy to do stuff. Also i agree with Brundrake,*Just a lil fact* people in the show ring look for the big slant on the German Shepherds, but actually its hard on the dog because of the hips and not even by the time they are 5 they are having problems... I knew a dog when it was 2 it had to be put down because of the hips. The best type of german shepherd is a working german shepherd, ones with out the slow. Although those are extreamly hard to find now.

I disagree. Although that can be a result of excessive inbreeding, or close linebreeding over successive generations, responsible linebreeding is done to bring unwanted characteristics to the surface which then can be softened or taken out completely by crossing out. If all you do is outcross in your breeding program there will be little to no consistency.

Breeding in general should not be undertaken by someone who is not aware of defects within dog breeds, but there are cons to every type of breeding, including inbreeding and outcrossing to completely nonrelated individuals and keeping the COI less than 1%.

I'm aware about the German Shepherds. VP has really nothing to do with conformation or physical soundness as a dog on here is nothing but a few codes.

 • Well thinkning about it... "close inline breeding" would be nice.. instead of breeding all the dogs needed and then just retiring them after training and breeding a litter you would have alot less dogs to be "thrown away"... Im on the border. I'd like other's to put their input...

 • I vote no. Would make getting 10x4s ridiculously easy.
 • Well, now it's just ridiculously hard. I've done up to 10 generations on 2 different breeds and ~15 on my other breed, which has spent me close to $50 million dollars and can't get the hyper past 98. I guess it's just everyone else's luck.

What breed(s) are you trying to work on?

To me 50 million to be getting no where seems a little out-of-whack.

So what breeds are you working on, maybe someone can give you assistance.

This is the closest means of line breeding one can do with their dogs on VP, as I had a mere 4 dogs are starters and achieved 9x4 stars within a period of 2-3 months that is alarmingly fast
<a href="http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=230284"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=230284;

 • Working on Bouvier des Flandres, 8 generations, about 75 dogs; King Shepherds, 80 dogs in all.. most groomed til 10/11. Not out of whack. Probably spent more than that, and I know that's poor line building but maybe you understand where I'm coming from now. Proof: Search Bouvier des Flandres with BF in the name, and King Shepherds with KS in their name and that's all mine; retired and not retired.

 • nice female
<a href="http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1599895"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1599895

I think the major problem, just skimming your dogs, is the fact that they are not closely enough related.

The genetic gap is too "large".

For example when I improved my ABBB, Royal Wolves, and Moritic Sheepdogs, I used very little in the genetic diversity and only when it was absolutely necessary.

<a href="http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=47659"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=vpKennel/view&id=47659
is an example if you read the kennel information

ps. If you are lossing that much money of these breeds my advice is to put them aside and work on another breed for a bit

That way you can think of what is going on with the hyper - another breed may assist you in figuring out a way of improving the hyper.

I wouldn't be so upset about the hyper stat, almost every breed seems to get stuck there.

 • Well, when you're working with breeds that have 2-star or lower of pretty much any stat, be prepared for a lot of work. A breed I am currently working on started with 1.5-star strength. They hit 9x4s a few gens ago (using this method of breeding <a href="http://virtualpups.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=64195"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=64195;) and it will probably take ten more gens before strength finally hits four star. So, even with the pretty close inbreeding that is currently allowed, it's not really speeding the tough stats up.
 • In breeding is very possible

I have only two foundations for my Anatolian Shepherds

Review this female's bloodline to see how it is possible to line breed and get 8x4 stars within 5 generations
<a href="http://www.virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=1605845&view=1"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.virtualpups.com/viewdog.php? ... 845&view=1
