All About Shiba Inus

edited November 2009 in General Discussion
Not everyone knows about this Japanese breed that isn't very popular in the United States. I'll tell you some fun facts about this breed::
~Their name translates to Small/Brushwood dog in Japanese. Shiba meaning small or brushwood, Inu meaning dog.
~They are not the pet for everyone, they take tons of patience to train and tend to have mood swings and get really stubborn sometimes.
~They come in these colors only:: Red with urajiro markings, Red sesame, Cream, and Black and tan. Black and tan being the least common even in Japan.
~The cream colors aren't allowed to show in AKC Conformation events, since it's a mutated color of the breed. Still great pets though!
~They are Japan's most popular dog breed!
~I am proud to own a black and tan Shiba Inu! I show her in AKC events. Soon getting another black and tan in the beginning of summer :)

Any questions about Shiba Inus, dogs in general or AKC? Just ask me, I'm happy to help!
