Not everyone knows about this Japanese breed that isn't very popular in the United States. I'll tell you some fun facts about this breed::
~Their name translates to Small/Brushwood dog in Japanese. Shiba meaning small or brushwood, Inu meaning dog.
~They are not the pet for everyone, they take tons of patience to train and tend to have mood swings and get really stubborn sometimes.
~They come in these colors only:: Red with urajiro markings, Red sesame, Cream, and Black and tan. Black and tan being the least common even in Japan.
~The cream colors aren't allowed to show in AKC Conformation events, since it's a mutated color of the breed. Still great pets though!
~They are Japan's most popular dog breed!
~I am proud to own a black and tan Shiba Inu! I show her in AKC events. Soon getting another black and tan in the beginning of summer
