Skinny! Super Skinny!

edited October 2009 in Vent
I am so sick of going to the mall and seeing Skinny! And Super Skinny! jeans advertised EVERYWHERE. Ohmygosh. I HATE skinny jeans. Not everyone wants them and loves them like the fashion industry seems to think! (No offense intended to those who like them) I personally cant even fit into skinny jeans. Well I could, but I just dont want to. I went shopping for new jeans because Ive lost weight and all mine are too big now. And guess what? I found THREE pairs that werent skinny jeans out of like 20 or more brands. Its rediculous!

I know this is a stupid rant but it just bothers me so much. Im not skinny, so why should all my pants be?!

...Cookies to those who read.

 • I've been wearing them before they where "OMG NEW TREND" I have to wear clothing that fits close to my body because it's more comfortable - I don't wear them for the whole "trend" phase, I wear them because they are comfortable to me. I also where straight leg - but since I live in a hot area I wear shorts a lot to.
It's like an OCD thing - I also have to wear a under shirt under my t-shirt or it bugs me that my t-shirt is against my skin. xD
 • Lava I'm the same way about the undershirt yesterday.

I won't wear skinnies they cause nerve damage. Also my thighs are huge do to taking shots there 4 times a day for the past 5 years. even though I've been trying to take my shots in my stomach (that hurts, I cry when I do that. DX)

 • ...What ever happened to my flares? Am I the only one who misses them?
I love my flares. They used to be everywhere... Now everything is skinny, super skinny, or bootcut.

And stretch jeans. Why is everything stretch? It's totally not fair. (I'm not....big, I guess, but I'm certainly not a stick. I'm healthy with a bit extra. :D) Nothing FITS anymore!

I'm super picky about anything I wear (I'm horrible to go shopping with, so I've been told), and everything I wear is gone now. Now the jeans are stretch/skinny/boot cut/not-flares and the shirts are super tight and down to my stomach. And they have no sleeves. I'm not sure how they did the mechanics of it, but they did it.
I'm comfortable with my body. I'm just not comfortable showing so much, you know? Ugh.

Am I the only one who has this problem?

So... I can has cookie? XP

 • There are flair and bootcut and straight leg jeans. Skinny jeans are just popular right now, doesn't mean they're the only thing at the stores. Think that's a little exaggerated. Go to a jean store or make your own.

 • Must be different up there in the US.. our skinny jeans.. are not really.. skinny. o.o They're more like straight leg cuts.. Your version of skinny jeans sound TIGHT! Dx
I'm a skinny jean wearer myself (even with my thunder thighs >.<), but I wear them for the same reason as Avla.. they are comfy as long as you get the right fit and type.. :)

But something I think is much worse then skinny jeans right now... Tights that are made to look like jeans. o.o
I hate em. Can't stand them one bit.. It's very clear your wearing tights not jeans! your pockets are printed on! You look silly! >.<

Oh I hate fashion :S
 • I used to be opposed to skinny jeans because of the 'trend' or whatever, but ya know what? If you look cute in them, all the power to you. Only issue I have with them is the fact that I'm 5'2 and certain ones look kinda weird on me because I'm short.

My sister is 5'4 and thin as a rail and that's -all- she wears, and they look good on her. So I started wearing them. And I'm not trying to sound conceited, but they do look good on me, and I like them so I wear them. You expect nobody to wear them just because they don't look good on everyone? You expect them not to sell a lot of a -popular- style of clothing? That's like saying McDonalds shouldn't sell Big Macs anymore because they make people gain weight. If you don't like them, don't buy them. ;]

And like reina said, I think that was a little exaggerated. I don't know where you're shopping for jeans, but I don't have any problem finding boot cut or flair jeans, I just hate flare and I'm super picky about my boot cut jeans. ;p

Lmao. XD

I get mine from Pacsun - they make them fitting. Except one time I got the wrong size, instead of a 1 I picked up a 0 - but they still fitted. 8DD
 • Hence the name "skinny." :|

 • Aha. I wear a one too, and have a 0 that still fit. I can sit down in them, so by means of local peers, they aren't skinny jeans, but to me they are. They're silver. 8D

I'm going to assume you're talking to me....

Literally. There are no flares at the stores I go to. If there are flares, then they're full of holes. I refuse to buy jeans with holes in them. There's no question of that. If I wanted holes, I'd go to Kmart, spend five bucks, then get out a knife and do it myself. (Plus I like my whole leg(s) to be covered.)

And I'm not a seamstress. • Go online and look. There is always different jean types online. 8DD
 • Whoa. I never knew this was such a debate xD Like I said no offense intended to those who like them. More power to you. But all the stores around here, I have huge problems finding anything other than skinny or superskinny jeans. But I did get three new pairs which'll last me for about two or three years unless I shrink or expand. But I agree with Firekeeper, all the ones I like have holes in them. If I want holes in them Ill do it myself. (And yes, you get a cookie xD) But it seems to me there is no middle ground anymore. I wear a size 11, which is usually too big, or a size nine which is usually too small. When I look for pants I find about a million styles in sizes 1-5 or like 17+...I never can find any in my size and when I do they are always skinny jeans. -sigh-

 • Skinnies look bad on me. I have two pairs, one that are too small to fit anymore, and one that are too baggy below my knees.

I wear size 0 or 1. Normally 1s though. So skinnies tend to fit me, but since I'm short they bunch up at the bottom. And I think I look TOO skinny in skinny jeans therefore I no longer buy them. I love my flares <3 I normally go to Stitches to buy them because they have the comfiest ones that aren't too pricey. Flares look good on me; skinnies don't.

I wore them last year because they were cute. I saw other people wear them and thought, "Why not TRY them and see how they fit?" It wasn't because it was a trend. And even if it was, why shouldn't I buy them? Trends are always going to exist and when they do, I take advantage of them... if I like the certain trend. I would never wear something that's a trend if I totally hated it.
 • I can't fit into skinnies. I could. But I wouldn't look good in them because Kaytee's a fatty. Lol.

Actually. I found some really nice flair jeans at American Eagle. They're called 'Artists' and they fit really nicely. I love them :D
