I like huskys, there a nice breed of dog with alot of personalaty.- and there sooo cute- But I would not get one for a pet. So many peaple around here get huskys. But huskys are NOT house pets, and most are distrutive and Hyper. Peaple that get them end up not being able to keep up with there needs, and they end up in a shelter. Huskys, Borders, and any other working dog NEEDS to be exersised ALOT. I would even keep Huskys OUTSIDE. But peaple like the cute little puppy and get one, then end up giving it to a shelter. Soooo many huskys come to our shelter, with LOTS of bad habits. Peaple raise them and then jest tie them outside and....leave them. Its kinda sad.

  • Well, I'm sure that huskies can be good house pets, they just take a little more time and patience and training then some other breeds of dog.

It's odd, because some people would never think of buying a pitbull because some have aggression problems. Others would never want a small dog because some are yappy and have attidude problems. And yet others wouldn't like to have a big dog that requires too much exercise. All of our opinions are different, and it's sad how we can take a dog we can't handle as a puppy, and then come to find out they don't suit our personality and lifestyle. Then they are given to a shelter. I think it's extremly important to be careful when choosing a breed of dog. Just because it's cute or small doesn't mean it's easy to train or take care of. Some dogs are very hyper, some stubburn and hard to train, some very intelligent, some tiny lap dogs.

People have different lifesyles and should always choose a dog breed that suits their personalitys and lifestyles.

I don't know much about huskies, but I do know that they are probably not the right breed for me. They are very hyper dogs that require a lot of exercise and care, but they are very cute. However, if I thought that a dog would be so hard to handle I couldn't even have it live in my house with me whithout it casuing a huge problem, I wouldn't get it.

  • Very well put, Luvy!
All dog breeds need exercises, a run around in the backyard isn't going to do much.
The main reason why dogs misbehave is because they don't get out - taking a dog on a walk lets them explore outside their territory and experience new surrounding which reduces there drive to misbehave.
I honestly go by, if you don't know the meaning of "training" do not get a dog.
Training is a good way to bond with your dog and build trust - discipline will not kill your dog (as long as it's in a non abusive way) and most people do not like to put an effort in disciplining because they would rather spoil their pets.
  • Agreed.
But, I have a husky. xDDD
Yeah, she's hyper, yeah, she's annoying. xD
But overall, she's an awesome dog. (:

But, I do agree with you. If you're not willing to walk the dog AT LEAST 30 minutes a day, don't get a Husky.
Trust me.
Do not get a Husky if you don't wanna walk it everyday.

Trust me. XDDD
    bluehh.
  • MY aunt was just thinking about getting an Anatolian Shepherd Husky mix. He's extremely calm and so sweet. Only a year old. Wonderful house pet. She's on the waiting list for him now.

  • My boyfriend has a husky/mal mix and he's an indoor dog. He's very well behaved. If you teach them right as a puppy it shouldn't be an issue.

  • Some dog breeds aren't meant for certain people. Newfoundlands would do great with almost anyone, while Shiba Inus require extra training, fenced yards, and PATIENCE like no others! That's why it's super important to RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH before buying a dog breed! I got a newfie when I was little and when he died I researched tons of different breeds for two years before chosing one, Shiba Inu. They are not for everyone even though everyone thinks they are soo cute.. they have an attitude more than any other dogs!
