• That's sounds fun. I don't know if I could do it though, I'd be sad to see animals that were abused, or never get adopted, or something like that.

 • It's fun, I tell people to adopt a kitty or I'll stalk them. lmao. Just kidding. :P
 • ^..^
I started volunteering at our animal shelter at 7. Don't get so involved that you're allowed behind the scenes unless you want to develop some serious grudges.
Pm me for any advice.
And for those of you who can just make it up there once a month or so, bring the following:
-The specific brand of food they give the animals, no other type of food. Most likely science diet. Check before bringing it though.
-Shampoo and Conditioner(Yes, human products too.)
-Used Cell Phones(Some shelters take them and recylcle them for extra moolah, check before bringing, again.)
-Old stuffed animals, towels and blankets(VERY helpful)
-Laundry detergent(most have a washing machine for the blankets, just check before bringing. This is EXTREMELY needed since no one ever thinks to bring some.)
-Hand Soap, toilet paper(for the bathrooms, one less expense)
-Paper Towels(to clean up any excited accidents out of the cages.)
-SHREDDED NEWSPAPER(For the puppy cages, if your shelter keeps the puppies in crate/cages)
-Money
-Any type of treat, usually you can personally deliver them to the pups yourself. Ask first. If you don't have time, give it to the workers. It's a great plus for potential adopters to be able to feed the animal a treat.
And a wonderful gift you can usually hand deliver to the dogs or to be given to workers:
Get a sock that is too small or has holes, save up a bunch of plastic water bottles, take off the lid and wrapper(if any) on the bottle, stick it in the sock, tie a knot at the top of the sock, and viola - a crackly toy! For smaller socks, tie a knot in the middle and give it to a puppy.

 • Thanks, Pepper.
We have to be between 13+ to volunteer, I tried 5 years ago, when I was 12 but they said I was too young. D:
Oh well.
I work in the kitty area because there is so many of them, and everyone seems to like dogs more here. xD
Ah. We have to be 13 here too. My mom was in a paid job there, so, I volunteered early.
