Can anyone help with this? :(

edited September 2009 in General Discussion
I've been out of school sick with the stomach flu for an entire week, and I was assigned a few essays for my AP History class. One of the essay questions is this:

To what extent was the American Revolution a political movement, social movement, military/diplomatic movement, or an economic movement? To what extent did democracy and republicanism triumph over both anarchy and totalitarianism?

I wouldn't be asking for help from VP'ans if my teacher would just email me back already!!!!! xD

But alas.. he has yet to answer.

I guess I just don't understand the question...maybe it's too wordy for me or something? I don't know...but I've been attempting to START writing it literally...ALL DAY. And..nothing. I seriously, have not left the computer today, except for having to go to the restroom.

So...some help would be really really nice

 • That kind of question is a billion times better than something really vague like, "Explain 'American Revolution.'"

Ummm.... perhaps I can reword into three topics which you can use as the "internal" paragraphs (3 of 5).

1. How did the American Revolution have an impact on American socialism?
2. How was the American Revolution a political movement? List some ways worldwide politics and governments changed after the American Revolution.
3. Explain the ways democracy and republicanism triumphed over anarchy and totalitarianism?

Ideas:

1. -Religion played a big role in the AR in that it gave a good reason for opposition to the British to believe that the American Revolution was just in the sight of God. Some dissenting Protestant, Catholic churches at that time created sermons linking the revolution to ancient teachings in the Hebrew Bible. Ministers took up arms and became militants, thinking that they were serving God in the process.

-When the British goods were boycotted, women played a large role in tending soldiers, cooking, washing, and were used in other tactical ways such as spying on the British.

-African Americans thought the revolution was a promise to freedom and racial equality, and while starting in 1777 slavery was abolished in the northern states, it was still practiced in southern America.

2. On January 10, (I think..) 1776, a man named Thomas Paine created a document called "Common Sense," in which gave the idea that the only way to become neutral with the British is with republicanism and independence. The colonies began declaring their independence from Great Britain and creating their own constitutions to become sovereign individual states.
-On June 11, 1776, the "Second Continental Congress" draft was presented to the Congress, and on July 4, the "Declaration of Independence" was adopted, and the United States became independent. July 4, therefore, is celebrated as Independence Day.

3. I gotta go but I think you get the gist. Do some research... I'm Canadian, that's all I did.
