Depends if the person files a complaint against you.
When I was little we had a pit/lab mix that attacked another dog and person and they had filed a complaint and we had to take her to the puond.
  • I know the laws have changed now, It takes more than one offence. I believe.

I am not 100% sure.
I am thinking they might sue, because they can get money.

However it wouldnt look real good for him in court if he did that.

  • Did the person provoke the dog to bite?
Also, some "vicious/dangerous dog" laws only put limits to your dog, such as can't go to certain places, must only keep him/her in a one dog home, etc.
  • Well, It is kind of more like.. We told her many times to leave the dog alone because she just hangs on her and gets in her face. and she finally had enough.

Chezney
<img src="http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u47/Mustang34_album/7316_1210706782712_1080006788_30675.jpg"; alt="http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u47/Mustang34_album/7316_1210706782712_1080006788_30675.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

That is what I thought.
I kinda thought it was along the lines of just having to have the dog confined and muzzled in public. ect.

  • I wouldn't see it as a "vicious attack" because you warned the person.
My 11 year old poodle doesn't seem to get along with smaller children between 1-5 and she has nipped at my cousin a few times but nothing to the extreme.
So if they plan to sue you then I don't see it as being anything major.
  • For his best interest I would not sue.

We do "Free" babysit for his kids and she bit the youngest who is 3. But it isnt that bad. More like 1 small puncture and 2 small grazes on her chin. Did require 4 stitches though.

But it is the same thing everyday. She hangs on the dog, The dog growls. But today the dog actually bit her.

It was more of a alpha thing, because when you look into the dogs eyes you challange them. There for when she looks into the dogs eyes like that, she is challenging her. Ya know?

  • Well when a guy got bit by one of our dogs, it was his fault. My mom told him to leave the dogs alone, and he stuck his hand over the fence, and the dog fear bit him. And let's see we had the cops come out twice, I was a social service case for two weeks, and we just got charged medical bills.

  • Yes, I have been attacked a few times myself and I understood that it was my fault and not the dogs, the only time I would sue/call animal control was if it was on purpose. We have a lot of dog troubles in my neighborhood and just about a month ago a puppy got ripped apart and it's owner's hand got shreaded becuase two dogs where on the loose and the owners apparently had a few fighting dogs and they ended up attacking the owner when she was beating them off the puppy.
If he has a problem with your dog then he should find a new babysiter, I mean that is your home.
  • We were trying to give them a family setting because they dont have much of a home. The first 2yrs of there life they were locked in a bedroom and forced to fend for themselves.

However, My dog is part of my family and if they cant be safe in a home with my dog it is not a safe place for them to be. If we only had them like 2 days out of the month it would be different we could lock the dog in one part of the house. However, They are here 20 days in the month, and that is a long time for our dog to have to be locked up like she did something wrong.

  • My dogs once nipped someone, but it was his fault. He was waking down the street and he came to our yard, which was surrounded by a wooden fence. The dogs began barking at him, and barking and barkng, but rather then taking the warning sign and leaving, he reached over the fence to pet them. It was not a bad bight, just a little nip that barely even broke skin, but you can't blame her for protecting her territory. She warned the guy but he just stuck his hand in. The guy didn't sue or anything though.

An old friend of ours has gotten bitten twice, he meets a new dog, reaches down and hugs it, and gets bit, but he never seems to learn his lesson.
