What's bad about windows vista? When I first thought about getting myself a laptop, I had no idea how to get one, so my aunt ordered one for me. It's a Dell Inspiron and it has Windows Vista. And I keep hearing poo about how Windows Vista is like lame or something. ...and now I'm paranoid.

It is, dell is poo, we have one and it crashes all the time and now it has THIRTY TWO viruses. D< Make sure you put load of anit-virus, spy wear on there. I am thankful for my new laptop though, it causes me no problems. -pets-

I have McAfee and it protects against a lot of that stuff, and I'm pretty cautious when I explore the internets. How long did you guys have it before it started crashing?

We've had it for maybe, two years and it just started doing this. But, it's the family computer, so that's probably why it crashed.

I bought three new computers the other day. All dell, 2 vista one xp. The xp is the ONLY one that ever works right. Vista crashes like crazy consantly. Even when im just on vp... it'll freeze up and then shut down. Even when im only in a word document it will freeze up and half the time i lose my work. I have never had any problems with my computers that are on xp but the vistas are terrible. The only good thing i've ever found about vista is the way in which it's easier to connect to my router for my multiple comptuers and networking. other than that, i hate vista. >.<

Well, I think as long as you load it up with anti-virus crap you should be fine.

Not to worry you or anything.. But.. My sister had a vista dell inspiron Vista is AWESOME just takes some getting use to .. But the actual computer is crap.. in the past 2 years we've bought 3 dell laptops.. all have crashed and burned with in the first year.. but.. the inspiron crashed with in the first 4mos

We now have an acer aspire/ its like 5 or 6mos old now.. and nothings happened

I have never had a problem with vista, dont be paranoid

Although I have an asus, dell's pretty alright ay, it isnt the worst you can get (thats an acer :roll: ). Anti viral softwear I have and reccomend is AVG. I've actually never had a virus on here, and ive had the lappytop with vista from brand new since april last year. I'm sure the comp will do fine if you do the right stuff =] Good luck

Unlike 90% of the internet peoples who hate vista I like it. But I run mine off a mac and apparently that makes a huge difference. To me vista is only like a face lift of my '98 but then again I went and messed with a lot of the basic settings to make it to my liking. A note of dell-> they make good paper weights but not much else. My grandpa has one and I freaking hate it. You see the Intel and Dell just don't like to talk to each other so it causes some problems with internet and various other functions. The next time some one ever looks at getting you a laptop look at any thing but dell (HP and Acer tend to run a better price range as it is).

We have a dell. No issues. But the dogs walking on it and taking keys off. My brother wasn't being responsible. so are dad tried to fix the keyboard. But didn't to it right. So know they have to use a plugged in one xDD I have my own. But its not dell. :P

I have an acer that i've had for quite awhile now. Running on vista, vista sucks on it, but the computer itself.. i love it. It does take a couple more seconds than most to load but and get itself ready but other than that, i use it instead of the 4 dells at my house. I've never had an issue with it and it's one of the "cheaper" computers around. i love it.

I dunno what Vista you guys are running but it's certainly not the same as me xD I've had my acer laptop for about 2 .. or is it 3 years now o.O not sure. Works like a gem, brand new, super speedy

it only take a hissy fit if i have too many programs running, which is to expected i guess (x I've had a couple viruses from careles surfing, but I blame AVG for that and not vista. In terms of XP, I hate it. Crash. Crash. Crash. Crash. All it does is crash. I cant even play a simple game of freecell without it crashing. So we went and got a new PC a few weeks back xD Acer Aspire with Vista (8 and well, it's still early day, but hey, no problems so far xD As far as Dell goes, I've never used them, never wanted to pay the money for them, and from the sound of it, they suck xD

Our desktop is a Optima with XP. But my laptop is a Hewlett-Packard-Compaq which has Vista on it and I have an AVG anti-virus software. Never had an issue with it in over 2 years. Keep in my that viruses can only get onto your computer via internet sites, opening links/images in emails and downloading programs/songs. The viruses have nothing to do with the program your computers run, like XP or Vista. And Vista would only crash on a computer that isnt big enough to handle it, or created to run it. As long as you have good anti-virus software, Vista should run fine on your computer. *edit* I also have Age of Empires 2 and Sims 3 on my laptop, and have had them both since the Sims came out. It has never crashed or frozen.

I don't see what the fuss is about Vista. I have it and like it a lot! It's futuristic, clean, and fast. What's wrong with that? I have it on my HP Laptop. I think I will always choose HP over the others; I have more experience with it and it's easier to get around in my opinion.

I was waiting for this. xD Vista itself isn't horrible. I love the style and the speed. But Vista + Dell SUCKS. Our desktop is Dell with Vista, and it freezes constantly, Adobe -everything- has stopped working, Firefox is SUPER slow on it, and I just hate it altogether. But my aunt has an HP desktop with Vista, and it runs -perfectly-. I have an Acer Aspire laptop with Vista as well, and it runs alright, not perfect, but well enough. It freezes on occasion, but other than that it's amazing. I don't know about a Dell laptop, as I've never owned one before.

I have the HP Vista and I can't ever download things to it. *giggles* just ask eagles.

I think its just how its so protective. . . In a way, thats a good thing, but then if I want to download a font, NOPE. If I want to download a brush, NOPE. If I want to download a song and use it on a movie I'm making with my pictures, NOPE. :? So, I can't do much with it. Thats why my graphics have no new fonts or extra cool brushes. I make most of my brushes and I can't download fonts. It won't let me. I've seriously have spent more than two days just trying to figure it out. Its too much. :roll: Its fast, protective, but can be annoying. :P lol There.

I HATE Vista. It's poorly designed, slow, and about as anti-user friendly as they come. Have you ever had to install Vista yourself? And hunt down each and every driver? Without ANY help from your supposedly futuristic OS? It is AWFUL. Plainly awful. 7 will be an excellent patch for Vista.

I find Vista easy to use in some cases other than that, its crashing and slow. I find it very laggy drives me up the wall... my pc is a compaq presario if that has any to do with it... but other than that I'v had it's motherboard melt on me...
