D<

My brother was signed up to play football this year -for the first time-, and he hurt his back really bad and it's been hurting like all week.
-he played baseball for 4 years, why he chose football? I don't know.-
He didn't want to quit until my parents started pushing him too hard.
He went up to the coach today and told him that he quit, I mean yeah giving up isn't a great thing to be proud of.
But, I mean come on if they where getting slammed around by 200 pound boys and your only like 100, I'm sure they would quit.
I'm sure half the boys on that team are going to quit, they where all crying...litterly, because they where in so much pain.
Anyways, when my brother got home from practice boy was my dad furious, I understand he's upset because he gave up.
But, if he doesn't want to play he shouldn't have to.
It's just a sport, let him chose what he wants to do. It's his life.
Am I right?

 • Well why the asdlkjz get into football if you have no pain tolerance? My brother just got into football, he's actually at practice right now, and there's 3 guys on his team that are 200+ pounds and only 13 years old. I think if people get into contact sports, they should be really tough. It sounds like the guys on this team weren't very tough.

My 5'3" cousin is in Rugby. I am 6'1" and like twice the size of her in every way, and I decided not to join rugby because I am a complete wimp. Sometimes fact over ego can save your life, or your body in this case.

If your parents push him at something, at least let it be something he WANTS to do.

 • Well, at first he didn't want to do it. BUT, my dad got him excited about it.
Him and his friends always go out to the fileds and play football together all the time, he is pretty tough.
I don't think I have ever seen him in this much pain, he could barley walk his back was so messed up.
He's deffinatly not out of shape, he's played sports ever since he was four, he's "ego" deffinatly had nothing to do with playing football, I don't think he realized that it was going to be this hard...because he's never played "real" football, just the messing around with his friends kinda football.

And like I said...my brother has never been in this much pain in his life, nor has he ever quited anything because he knows you will never get any where in life if you quit. :)
 • Egh.. well.. if you quit a gang because you didn't want to kill people, do you think you would change your mind because if you quit you don't get anywhere?

 • O.o
I don't know what a gang has to do with anything,
but anyways, what I meant was if you where to go out and get a job you can't just quit becuase you don't feel like working and you'd rather stay at home. That gets you no where and you won't have money to survive and considering what our economy is like, you deffinatly need money survive.
 • If my kids sign up for a sport they are required to atleast finish it. You have to be able to give that sport a chance. Example- My daughters all signed up for softball 2 years ago. The younger two did not like playing tee-ball. They told me they didn't want to play next year. All is fine. My oldest daughter played softball also. She really didn't like it the first year. Well I didn't think she would want to play again this year. Well a her best friend moved to our town so she convinced her to play. After the second or third practice she was whining about playing. She aked to quit and I told her she had to finish it out. I was not going to let her quit after all the money I spent on things she needed to play softball. I highly doubt she will play again this year since she is more interested in cheerleading now. xD Finally found something she loves doing.

 • Well, my dad had no idea that he quit until practice was over.
My dad was furious becuase he spent $150 on it and my dad told him to at least finish this season, but my brother is stubborn and he'd rather play baseball...boys. :p
Anyways, it was straigtend out yesterday and now my brother has to pay my dad back. XD

It's a simile. Your brother is in pain. There's a difference between being in physical pain and wanting to quit, and just not wanting to do it. My cousin played rugby and she fractured her femur. Do you think the coach forced her to keep playing? No, obviously not. And this is RUGBY, not football.

 • Well, it was my brothers choice and he had a right to quit. And now he's paying the consiquences, if he'd rather work he's butt off and have to give all his hard earned money to my dad than that's his choice.
