As some of you may know, about 2 wks. ago, I adopted Titan from our local animal shelter. He thrived in his puppy classes, and loved doing the little agility courses that they had there... And of-course being a GSD, he has a "natural" herding ability. He loves to herd the goats, rabbits and other various creatures at a friends house, and is just doing awesome!

ANYWAY... Back to PetFinder I went, and had ended up seeing this scruffy looking old dog. He had been at a different shelter for over a month while his previous owners were in divorce, and didnt know who would take the dog... Stupid... I know... Leaving a family member in a shelter just because you're getting a divorce. But then they decided they didnt want him anymore, and left state the next day. Thus he went up for adoption. But was transfered to another animal shelter (the same one I got Titan at 2 wks. before) as the previous one was overcrowded. The day I saw him on PetFinder, I just knew I had to get him. So the next day I called the shelter and told them that I would be picking him up around noon. I arrived a few mins. after, and there he was waiting for me. He was really excited to meet me. And was in rough looking shape. His fur underneath the wirehair is completely matted. And he was really dirty and smelly from walking in his feces and urine in the kennel.

The shelter volunteers told me that he wasnt potty trained. Didnt know many good house manners, as he was left outside on a chain for most of his 8 yrs. of life. I was told that he barked constantly, and was a horrible inside dog... This was told to them by the previous owners.

I paid for him, and took him home. Gave him a bath and a good brush-down. And everything I was told... Was totally untrue. His entire personality just turned around. And he's an awesome little dog. He has awesome house manners, he knows to stay off the furniture. He knows that he cant steal food, or beg when someones eating. And even knows the words "outside", and "treat"... He hasnt even had ONE single accident in the house in the past 3 days that we've had him. He sleeps throughout the night, and lets me know when he's got to go outside. And even knows that before coming inside, he gets a brush-down (this is to minimalize the shedding) and even stands patiently to get it done. He's just an overall awesome dog. Titan, Dumpy and Dingo get along great together. He even loves to ride in the car, and stick his head out the window. And is great while being left alone in the house for long periods of time... Even when he's not crated!! We actually dont crate him because he hates it... Most likely no training with the crate done in his life... Then being traumatized by the kennels at the shelters.

The breed debate...
I was told upon getting him that he was a "Scottish Terrier/German Shepherd"... HOWEVER he has TINY legs... That of a Dachshund. BUT he's not a Dachshund at-all. I was told he was mixed with German Shepherd, due to his ears... But his ears... Are Scottish Terrier. His entire body outlook is that of a Scottish Terrier... Including the wirehair. He's smaller than the standard Scottish Terrier... So he had to've been something smaller. Hence the reason why the Dachshund theory was said. Then I was searching through Google... And came across a Blue Heeler (we've owned several in the past, so I knew what they looked like). And of-course... The Blue Heeler coloration fit.

SO we think he is a Scottish Terrier/Blue Heeler. BUT he's smaller than both breeds. He's just a weird old man. But one hell of a dog to boot.

The pictures are pretty bad... Cause my cameras broken, so these are "blind shot" pics. They're pretty much just showing parts of him, such as his legs, coloration, etc. And he -loves- windows. lol.

<a href="
