I just dont know.

Well last night I was petting my cat and I noticed something abnormal. She has a small lump on her lower half I guess around her hip area. She got shots a few days ago in that area, and it wasnt there before she got them. It could be swelling from the shot, but I dont know, since Ive never owned a cat before. Im really worried its something far worse. My parents are going to call the vet if it doesnt go away soon (like it would if it were swelling from the shot) You cant see it just by looking at her, but its very noticable when you pet/touch her. Any suggestions as to what it might be? If its something bad, I just dont know what I'll do. I love her to death. Shes my baby.

  • It could be swelling from the shots, or if the needles weren't sterile then it could be an infection from the shots, which as previously mentioned could turn into an abcess. An abcess is very treatable and would just have to be drained and treated with antibiotics.<br>It shouldn't be something that is very serious if it was not there before you went to the vet. Couldn't be cancer or anything like that.

<br><br>I agree.. probably just a reaction to the shots. Was it a combo shot? It's more common for animals to have reactions to shots when they're like 3-in-1 shots or whatever.. She should be fine. :D

  • Well, I am not sure how old your cat is, but my dog, now 16(or so) has been living with some 30+ tumors for like 6 years. When they first spotted up, she got surgury and they said they weren't cancer. But sometimes animals just get fat tumors, but you are most likely right that it was the shot. And yah, somtimes the vaccines expire and stuff and can cause minor reactions. Have you called the vet to report the incedent so they don't give the shots to other pets?

  • Yeah we called the vet and they just went 'I dont know why that would happen or what it is. If it doesnt go away call us back'<br><br>It seems to have gotten smaller though.

  • its good that its got smaller, my cat died a few years ago by a car, but he never really had problems like this, as far as i can remember, he was only 5. it could be fluid or somthing. if she doesnt mind you touching it, thats a good sign, as well as behaving normally, somthing serious wouldnt develop so quickly, i would think, so watch it/her for the next few days, but im sure she will be fine :)

  • if she minded at first and not now, that good as well. if it is swelling from injection, then it could be tender to start, but now as its getting better it doesnt hurt as much :)
