Mirroring. O_O

Body language. Is. Amazing.
I just found out. :]
I was watching Flashpoint the other day, and the captain mentioned something about mirroring. I was like, wtf? So today I googled it up... and then I tried it out.

Mirroring is when you imitate or reflect the same gestures & body language as the person you're talking to. Its quite interesting.

The first person I tried it out on was a friend of mine. :]
We were talking, and as we started talking about going out to see GI Joe he got really excited (little Action buff e.e). So, I tried out my newly found mirroring... techniques. First, I got excited too! I was like OMG LETS DO IT! And, the more he started to do these little gestures as get closer & stuff, I sorta did the same. Suddenly, we switched off to the HP movies. At first, I started at the same level of excitement, but I gradually backed off. It worked. He started getting the message that I wasnt very interested... but he didnt understand why since I kept saying, "Yea HP is cool...' stuff like that.

It was interesting.

I did the same with my BFF.
Her's was easier since she knows me so well.
Instead of sitting sorta close in the McDonalds booth like we usually do when we're hanging out with every one else... I sat on the very edge. She gave me a funny look, and didnt try to talk to me. When I got home and I asked her why, she was like "I thought you were angry O_O".

Its funny. O_O
You guys should try it. :]
I'm planning to see if I can make someone uncomfortable >:]

<a href="http://www.wikihow.com/Read-Body-Language"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://www.wikihow.com/Read-Body-Language

;
Mirroring is an instant way of building or monitoring the connection people have with one another. Yawning for example is a way that even complete strangers feel compelled to mimic. Mirroring-body language helps us gauge what level of agreement is present between people. In our historical past, mirroring each others gestures served to eliminate aggression between people. We use it today in much the same way. Two strangers won’t initially hold the same gestures or will hold closed body language and postures, but as agreements and opinions are expressed the body will show agreement and common ground... Mirroring therefore, says “Look at me, I’m the same as you, and we both agreeâ€
