She's been like this since about a week and half after we adopted her. It's not getting better. It's getting worse. Before she'd warn you, now..

I really don't know. I can't do it again though. I can't. And then thinking what it would to to Bella?

  • Is there anything in particular that upsets her? I had a cat like that once.... I'd say give her space and don't bother her much. How long have you had her?

  • It's completely random. If you're eating and you won't give her your food, she'll smack you. If you play with her too long, she'll smack you. If you hold her too long, she'll smack you. It goes on. She can be so sweet, at this moment she's sitting on my lap grooming my hands. And with the eating and playing.. I don't want her to live in our bathroom.

We're under the impression that she was an alley cat. We found her around.. maybe a month ago now outside a seven-eleven. Nothing phases her. She is constantly digging in our trash and when I make a sharp noise to make her stop, she doesn't flinch. When I clap near her to make her go off, it doesn't phase her. Normally I end up throwing a sharpie or something at the bag(not at her, of course), and that spooks her and she stops.

  • well it sounds like she just went through a major change in her life, from being outside, having to fend for herself, and being able to do whatever she wanted, to being inside with people, and having rules. It could take her a while to get used to that. Until she does I'd say just be patient, keep her nails trimmed so she doesn't do much damage when she claws, and get a spraybottle to spray her when she does something wrong, and treats to reward her when she behaves.

  • If she scratches, I'm sure you can clip her nails or go to the vet and get "caps". They're these little plastice claw-shaped things that get glued on a cat's claws like fake nails for a person. They don't hurt and when the cat's claws grow out again, they fall off and you glue another one on. That way, at least when she scratches, she can't actually hurt anybody. They come in all sorts of cool colors, too. Purple, blue, pink, clear, etc.

Plus, it's a nicer way to go than declawing - which is also permanent. D:

I hope everything works out, Dreamy.
  • Aw :(

I don't know how to help with the behavior issues, I'm a dog person lol But you could try declawing her, and then she wouldn't scratch.

Is she spayed? I don't know if it's the same for cats and dogs, as I said I'm a dog person but with dogs if they're not fixed they're more territorial, aggressive, etc.

I'm sorry about your parents, after what you went through with Auzzy they shouldn't have even though about doing this to you again. If you need to talk I'm here for you

  • No don't declaw. It's actually highly unnecessary and since the cat won't be able to protect herself by clawing, she'll turn to biting. Plus it's like a deep operation taking off the entire first digit, not just the nail.

With my cat, I just kinda moved her with the top of my foot against her side. I'm definitely not kicking or "shoving," but just moving her away from something I don't want her getting at. She understands. If she claws, my dominant dog-owner instinct comes in and I just put her on the floor and say 'no' firmly and quickly. Nothing hurts, nothing's abusive, just getting the point across. Sometimes a quick grab and shake of the neck skin works -- because that's what the Momma cat would do.

Try ..... don't declaw!

  • Sorry for the late responses guys!

No worries, Reina, I'm very anti-declaw. I'll try that next time she starts acting up.
But yup, she's spayed.
She hasn't acted up nearly as much as before, but she's still randomly going after your face if she's laying on you(voluntarily) or similar. Bella's been doing better, grabbing her scruff and such when she's miss-behaving. So woo-hoo for Bellzers.
