PS2 Help?

XD Yes, I need some PS2 help >.<<br><br>My PS2 (the old kind, i've had it since 2004 xD... never has been dropped, just dust is on it) won't read any discs. And my guess is that the "laser" has dust on it?<br><br>I've looked on yahoo answers and youtube on how to fix the problem.<br><br>The question is, should I fix it myself, or, take it to a place to be fixed? And what places will fix a PS2?<br><br>Knowing me I might brake the thing XD LOL. <br>Has anyone else had this problem?<br><br>D: What should I do?<br><br><br>--Ruffian

    well, i have burned out the laser several times and it costalmost as much to buya new laser compared to buying a new ps2. so, i boughtt another ps2 since they r stop making ps2s next month, soo

    that happened to mi old one all the time. now I have the ps3 which is amazing. <3 even though I only use it for internet on the sites mi mum doesn't want me going on on the computer. xD and the best thing being that it apparently can't get virus'. ^^<br><br>but-since I was getting off track. :roll: mi dad always took the air compresor and blew out the vents and opened up the disc drive thingy to blow the air on it too. it worked up until we left it at our uncles..then they did something to it. >.< so no more guitar hero for me on the ps2. xD

    air compressors? :lol: they sell them at (get ready for a list. xD ):::<br>Wal-mart<br>Kmart (I think, not sure)<br>Lowes<br>Home Depot<br>and just about any hardware store. ^^

    You can get air compressors pretty much anywhere that sells tech/hardware.<br><br>I would suggest going to like Frys, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot. I'm pretty sure they have some there.<br><br>If you're not sure about doing it yourself, I would also suggest that you go to your neighborhood GameStop, GameCrazy, or anywhere else were you can sell/buy/trade games. They can give you advise and/or actually fix your problem for you. <br><br>I've never had this problem with my PS2, it just kinda sits around and waits for me to play Ghost Recon. >:] But I hope this helps.

    my solution would be to get an xbox 360 or ps3 lol. you could probably look on the internet and find a used ps2 for cheap for the parts you need, or to replace the one you have now. hell, we have one my daughter uses as a step stool lmao. <br><br>make xbox live free!

    <br><br>Nahh, I don't want to replace the one I have xD I just want a new laser thing whatever or just to get it cleaned.<br>PS3's and xbox's are tooo expensive, and I need other things... that can wait. Plus, I'm not fond of xbox's, they aren't really my thing.<br><br>hahah, that's funny.

    If you were to have to get a new upgraded version of playstation or xbox. go the playstation. X-box 360's have one massive problem, even tho the producers have brought out newer modles that are supposed to be better they still get the death ring. I found out the hard way. Got one for christmas a year later un reparible with the red death ring... its gay lol
