• Well I suppose I could exceed the size .. and ive been around big dogs [rottweilers, bullmastiffs] since a baby, and now since we only have 2 rotties, decided to get another dog.

its up to me and my brother, mum and her boyfriend, and my brother said he wants a pit/staff/ etc etc. and same with me, im just seeing what others have to say =/ : ]

my dad actually owned cocker spainels when he was in his twenties,
i know guys who own smaller breeds,
it's not the dog that's 'preppy', it's how people make them look.
    Axel.png
  • That's true.
My guy cousin had a Chihuahua and he loved it, but his friends made fun of him because it was such a "girly, Paris Hilton" dog.
And then my friend has one, and hers fits the stereotype since she makes the poor thing wear a pink tutu everywhere it goes.
    23jlj11.jpg
  • i soo cant stand that.

this girl i know says 'your blonde, you should get a pink poodle or chihuahua !' and im like you must be kidding.

i wouldn't be seen dead with one =/

id rather have something that would protect me, and be of some use ://

lmao!
if you've never owned the breed don't talk like you know it,
i have a poodle, she is my life line.
she almost killed someone.
(long story)
but, i was in a life or death situation.
and she protected me.

  • hahaa.
its called an opinion.

you sateted you wanted 'something of use',
my poodle would be just as protective as a pitbull.
she may be smaller in size,
but you can't judge a book by it's cover.
    Axel.png
  • All dogs are protective of their owners, it's only natural. My cousin's Chihuahua would actually try and attack people that went near him and hugged him until the dog got used to them.

But dogs used for protection are more hardy, ie. German Shepherds, Rotties, Pit Bulls, than poodles and the like.
    23jlj11.jpg
  • omfg.

l o l .

who said i was talking about your poodle?
did you not see the general 'audience' i was getting at?

i included 'chihuahua' in ther somewhere, which states i [meaning ME personally] would rather have something bigger, stronger, and better than a prissy, whatever breed.. SUCH AS a poodle or chihuahua.

if you have a problem with me stating my opinion, then please don't post on my thread again.

that's true.
but, as i stated above, my dog almost killed someone,
and i don't say that lightly.
if course, everything got handled.
i have to exercise my dog out in the backyard,
because after she got attacked,
(another long story. :P)
she became weary of other humans and pets,
and she trys to attack everyone.
XD

funny thing is,
my brothers friend is terrified of dogs,
and my dog weaned him out of that. o.o

i never said you where,
but you apparently have no idea what smaller breeds are like,
i personally like bigger breeds as well.

i never said i had anything against your oppinon,
i was stating my oppinon to.

  • lol thanks :p

Does it matter if the breed is available in your area? Like at a shelter/breeder? Because if it's not and you can't fly it in or drive somewhere to get it, that might limit your choices.

  • hmm, well im kind of in the middle of england, so i dont actually know .. but i dont think anything will be needed shipping etc . but we can drive : )

  • Um, well, I have a Siberian Husky and a Shih-tzu, both spayed girls. 8D
Except, if you've got a Husky, you've gotta be able to run. For a long time. I'm serious. They need like 1 hour walks every day, and obedience training since they're such stubborn dogs. D8 -stares at Misty- Hehe. But other then that, I love Huskies! 8D They're so sweet. [:

On the other hand, you might call a Shih-tzu preppy/prissy, so, I dunno. x]
    bluehh.
  • I love Dachshunds, they can be one of the most loyal and cuddly dogs. Plus, when they bark it sounds like they are a bigger dog, and my Dachshunds will bark like crazy if something is wrong. They go on our boat with us and on road trips and camping, all in all they are very good dogs.
  • Hmm, huskies are cool :]

So are daschunds :]

I need more ideas.. (:

I'm going to have to agree with you and your brother lol. And if you get a correct apbt, it'll weigh right around 50 lbs and less. I have 5 that co-exist with no problems, and they weren't all bought as puppies. Meaning they were easy to introduce into the fam.
It's just life. You'll get over it.
  • yeah lol.

it will definately be a puppy, whatever breed we end up deciding on :)

im hoping its gonna be a pit, or pit mix : )

  • do you have petfinder.com where you live? that's a fun site to browse. i do it now, knowing i don't need anymore lol.

  • o.0 :) i part-own (complicated) a doberman/lab/german shep. mix, (chappie) and hes awesome. Intelligent, cute, extremely friendly, yet protective. For intance, he never used to bark at the doorbell, but about a year and a half ago, he begun to, and man has he got a deep bark.. so anyway this salesman came around trying to sell double glazing, and so chappie barked at the doorbell, and as most dogs, hes eager to see who is it (and make friends, because he sences that the guy is no threat) so his other part-owner grabs his collar (so he doesnt run into the road) and opens the door, now the salesman pokes his head around the porch and says 'ummm.. does he bite?' and the person holding says 'only if i tell him to' because at this point, chappie is on his back legs, straining to go sniff him. and so the man says ' would you be interested in double glazing..?' and the reply is 'no' and so he said 'right, ok, bye' it was v.funny actually. hes also very loyal, because (hes a rescue) his old owners used to leave him alone, he whines when hes alone , and sticks like glue when your with him :) hes also friendly towards other humans and dogs, apart from when they pose a threat to him and his 'pack' like the sound of him? :)
